The current web provides a two dimensional user experience. A user has to
interact with 2 dimensional objects in a browser. This experience is so much
frustrating that some users are turning back to old way of doing business -
go offline and call the live person.
A study by Forrester Research just found that for online travel web site
users.
This is no different for other web users. The fact is link based navigation
is orthogonal to human nature. The human mind excels with interaction. We
humans love interacting and need interactive user interface. When I say
interactive, it does not meaning link based navigation or web 2.0 style auto
refresh of data, what I indeed mean interacting in human language. The
ability to interact like you would do with a live person.
One should not need any special language or special technology to do business
online.

I have been involved in managing enterprise mobility projects for many years
and have noticed some trends. The largest number of mobility projects within
a company are not large enterprise wide projects but smaller departmental and
business process specific projects. These often involve only 25-100 users. I
have also been involved in projects with 500-3,000 mobile users as well, but
there are far less of these. The small size and specific requirements of
these smaller mobility projects cause many SAP mobility partners serious
challenges.
Small mobility projects are often very important to a specific department.
The success of the department can be dependent upon the implementation of a
mobile application that helps them do more with less. The department manager
will be very keen to find a mobile application that meets their specific
requirements. They often have com... (more)

When I interviewed entrepreneur and author Guy Kawasaki recently, I chatted
with him at great lengths about his Twitter publishing habits.
Take a look at his feed, and every few minutes you’ll see a new post, from
why videos go viral to Playboy’s plans for a strip club. With so much
tweeting, I asked him if he lost followers. In true Guy style, he admitted
that yes, he had lost followers–but not nearly as many as he
gained.Incidentally, in the time I wrote this post, Guy Kawasaki tweeted five
times and gained 41 new followers, debunking the theory that too many tweets
is bad for your presence.

When the usage of mobile Internet started to rise dramatically due to the
enhanced capabilities of smartphones, along with the increasing development
of innovative applications and ecosystems around wireless devices, Mobile
Network Operators AKA Wireless Internet Services Providers, started to search
options to handle the huge increase in traffic that was not only affecting
the quality of the data service, but was also eroding the revenues due to
costly expansions to allow the access to services that weren’t even
provided by WISPs. The costliest resource is the spectrum, it must not only
carry the user traffic, but the signaling that controls the access to the
service; a big part of popular mobile applications use today, need the
exchange of tremendous amounts of signaling that summed to user traffic
deplete the available spectrum in the access part of the net... (more)
London (15th Oct 2012) - Brits take more care to protect their social network
profiles and passwords than they do with their banking and credit card
details, according to a new study.
Staples research reveals a third of Brits (33%) are guilty of leaving their
bankcards or statements open on a shared network at work, lying on the desk
or loose in the bin without being destroyed or shredded.
In comparison, the poll of 1,000 people revealed that only 1 in 10 would ever
leave their Facebook page open on a shared network, or display details such
as address or date of birth on their page.
And when it comes to passwords, a fifth (18%) of people said they never cover
the PIN pad when withdrawing money and a tenth (9%) regularly share their
PINs with friends and colleagues so they can withdraw cash or buy items on
their behalf. However, just 1 in 20 would ever give away their... (more)
As we move closer to the holidays, many things are once again cropping up,
just like clockwork. Some – including the airing of The Christmas
Story and It’s a Wonderful Life – are always welcome. Others, like
frenzied mall traffic and egg nog, you want to forget. And then there’s
the blitz of year-end predictions – just like holiday songs, they can be a
mixed bag.
I promise I won’t declare 2013 “The Year of fill in the blank”. But
as we look forward to the New Year, there are some trends that
CMO.com highlighted earlier this year that are worth revisiting. In fact,
it’s my view that three are going to be increasingly important for B2B CMOs
to pay attention to as we look toward 2013:
1. Show Me the Money – I mean it.
With the economy teetering on the edge of what many are calling a “Fiscal
Cliff,” I can’t stress enough how important marketing ROI has become ... (more)

Part two of an ongoing series in which Pegasystems CMO Grant Johnson sits
down with other CMOs and Industry experts to talk about burning issues that
are top of mind for B2B and B2C marketers.
In the first part of this series published on February 8 I covered three of
six key elements that define the new CMO. In this second part, I delve into
the other three: achieving alignment, becoming a business partner, and being
customer driven. As before, I include insights from three CMO thought leaders
on what it takes to succeed in an increasingly digital world: David
Cooperstein, vice president, CMO Practice Director, Forrester Research; John
Ellett, CEO of nFusion and author of The CMO Manifesto; and John Neeson,
managing director and co-founder, Sirius Decisions.

Oct. 9, 2018 02:45 PM EDT | By Pat Romanski Concerns about security, downtime and latency, budgets, and general unfamiliarity with cloud technologies continue to create hesitation for many organizations that truly need to be developing a cloud strategy. Hybrid cloud solutions are helping to elevate those concerns by enabling the combination or orchestration of two or more platforms, including on-premise infrastructure, private clouds and/or third-party, public cloud services. This gives organizations more comfort to begin their digital transformation without a complete overhaul of their existing infrastructure - serving as a sort of "missing link" for transition to cloud utilization. Oct. 9, 2018 02:00 PM EDT | By Zakia Bouachraoui Doug was appointed CEO of Big Switch in 2013 to lead the company on its mission to provide modern cloud and data center networking solutions capable of disrupting the stronghold by legacy vendors. Under his guidance, Big Switch has experienced 30+% average QoQ growth for the last 16 quarters; more than quadrupled headcount; successfully shifted to a software-only and subscription-based recurring revenue model; solidified key partnerships with Accton/Edgecore, Dell EMC, HPE, Nutanix, RedHat and VMware; developed Open Network Linux, an open source NOS foundational component designed in partnership with Facebook and Google; and he played an integral role in raising two-thirds of the company's $120MM of funding. Prior to Big Switch, Doug was SVP & GM of Juniper Networks $1BN business across Asia-Pacific, Japan and Greater China, and he began his time at Juniper as SVP & GM of its Security bu... Oct. 9, 2018 01:30 PM EDT | By Pat Romanski Data center, on-premise, public-cloud, private-cloud, multi-cloud, hybrid-cloud, IoT, AI, edge, SaaS, PaaS... it's an availability, security, performance and integration nightmare even for the best of the best IT experts.
Organizations realize the tremendous benefits of everything the digital transformation has to offer. Cloud adoption rates are increasing significantly, and IT budgets are morphing to follow suit. But distributing applications and infrastructure around increases risk, introduces complexity and challenges availability at every turn. Oct. 9, 2018 01:00 PM EDT | By Zakia Bouachraoui The complexity of managing and delivering the high level of reliability expected of web-based, cloud hosted systems today, and the expectation of Continuous Delivery of new features has led to the evolution of a totally new field of Service Reliability Engineering catered for such systems.
Google, who has been a pioneer in this field, calls it Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). While it would be more aptly named Service Reliability Engineering, the name has caught on. The seminal work documenting Google approach and practices is in the book by Google by the same name (commonly referred to as the ‘SRE book'), and has become the defacto standard on how to adopt SRE in an organization. This session will cover adopting SRE as a practice in organizations also adopting DevOps; address the challenges to adopting SRE faced by large traditional enterprises, and how to overcome them.
