Register for this session ▸ Here
Disruption, Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning,
Leadership and Management hear these words all day every day... lofty goals
but how do we make it real? Add to that, that simply put, people don't like
change. But what if we could implement and utilize these enterprise tools in
a fast and "Non-Disruptive" way, enabling us to glean insights about our
business, identify and reduce exposure, risk and liability, and secure
business continuity?
According to a report from IBM Marketing Cloud, "10 Key Marketing Trends",
90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last 24 months
(since that was published in 2107, some are now suggesting that due to the
accelerated velocity of data creation, that figure is actually 6 months);

Modernize Your Applications Through Novel Abstractions and Configurations
Most technology leaders, contemporary and from the hardware era, are
reshaping their businesses to do software. They hope to capture value from
emerging technologies such as IoT, SDN, and AI. Ultimately, irrespective of
the vertical, it is about deriving value from independent software
applications participating in an ecosystem as one comprehensive solution.
In his session at @ThingsExpo, Kausik Sridhar, founder and CTO of Pulzze
Systems, will discuss how given the magnitude of today's application
ecosystem, tweaking existing software to stitch various components together
leads to sub-optimal solutions. This definitely deserves a re-think, and
paves the way for a new breed of lightweight application servers that are
micro-services and DevOps ready!

With all the focus on both domestic and international economic woes and
discussion of recessions and depressions and possible future rapid inflation,
recent conversations with IT professionals from organizations of all size
across different industry sectors and geographies prompted the question, is
there also a data and I/O activity recession?
Here's the premise, if you listen to current economic and financial reports
as well as employment information, the immediate conclusion is that yes,
there should also be an I recession in the form of contraction in the amount
of data being processed, moved and stored which would also impact I/O (e.g.
DAS,, LAN, SAN, FAN or NAS, MAN, WAN) networking activity as well. After all,
the server, storage, I/O and networking vendors earnings are all being
impacted right?
As is often the case, there is more to the story, certainly vendo... (more)

The rise of cloud computing is a perfect opportunity to rethink your IT
governance model in a fundamental way.
Read the first part of this column for a discussion of how to reshape IT
governance to add value, rather than hold a business back.
Many enterprises place prohibitions on the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS),
Google and other cloud services, despite the overwhelming evidence that these
platforms enable innovation infinitely more than most of internal IT, and are
every bit as secure as current systems — often, more secure.
Rather than the five guiding principles of the COBIT framework that
encourage these prohibitions, IT governance should have only one: Exceed
stakeholder expectations for agility, innovation, quality and efficiency to
drive business value creation.
How is that done while ensuring the proper allocation of capital, the right
level of risk man... (more)
