Details of the rack-mount Itanium servers will be announced after they go through Linux compatibility testing and are ready to ship.
Penguin plans to target the boxes at both the server and high-performance Linux cluster markets.
At LinuxWorld, Penguin rolled out two Opteron-based servers and a dual-processor workstation.
The new products include the Altus 1100, a twin-processor 1U server/cluster compute node with Serial ATA hard drives; the Altus 1200, the same thing with SCSI drives; and the Tempest 2100, the workstation.
Meanwhile, Penguin Computing's Scyld subsidiary said that an upcoming release of its Linux-based Beowulf cluster OS would support Itanium and Opteron. The upgrade will come with enhanced cluster management tools and an enterprise-class job scheduler to improve cluster utilization.
