DevOps has long focused on reinventing the SDLC (e.g. with CI/CD, ARA, pipeline automation etc.), while reinvention of IT Ops has lagged. However, new approaches like Site Reliability Engineering, Observability, Containerization, Operations Analytics, and ML/AI are driving a resurgence of IT Ops. In this session our expert panel will focus on how these new ideas are [putting the Ops back in DevOps orbringing modern IT Ops to DevOps].| By Cloud News Desk | Article Rating: |

In the brave new world of cloud computing, what is the secret to building great companies? That was the question answered by Roman Stanek, pioneer of Business Intelligence (BI) in the Cloud, who on Monday keynoted SYS-CON's Cloud Expo Europe 2009. The first major Cloud event in Europe was co-located with Virtualization Conference Europe 2009, and took place May 18-19, 2009, in Prague, Czech Republic, ans was sponsored by Sun Microsystems, VMware, GoodData Corporation, and 3tera.

Stanek delivered his Cloud Expo Europe keynote on May 18, 2009 at Hilton Prague
In his presentation, titled: "Building Great Companies in the Cloud," Stanek - a technology visionary who has spent the past fifteen years building world-class technology companies - talked about what it means to be 'born on the cloud.' Specifically he shared with delegates his thoughts on how to use cloud computing as a technical design center; how to take advantage of the economics of cloud computing in building and operating cloud services; how to dramatically change customer adoption; and how to plan for the technical and operational scale that cloud computing makes possible.
"By now, most technologists are sold on the fundamentals of cloud computing," said Stanek.. "It's a realization of the last 20 years of architecture development. For architects and developers alike."
The economics of the cloud, according to Stanek, mean that "we finally get to do what we've been drawing on whiteboards for years." Companies large and small are taking advantage of the cloud's utility model. What used to cost $20+ million can now be done for $500k on Amazon Web Services.
"This provides unprecedented opportunity - for new and established companies alike," Stanek noted. His keynote took place Monday May 18th in the Prague Hilton.
