What Is the Future of Multi-Cloud Computing?

Like so many other IT solutions, cloud computing services have long been
promoted from a standpoint of administrative efficiency. As the rationale
goes, if you get your cloud services from a single provider, you'll enjoy the
reduced hassle of consolidating third party business relationships, receive
IT services at bargain prices, and have an easier time coordinating those
services.
It's true that using fewer service providers can offer some nice perks, but
cloud computing is moving in the opposite direction at many companies.
Instead of reaping the benefits of placing cloud services under one umbrella,
businesses are mining the advantages of the antithetical approach: receiving
cloud services from multiple providers - a discipline known as "multi-cloud
computing."

Any significant business process that can be documented and best practices
identified - will be. Any defined process that can be standardized - will
be. Standardized processes that can be codified and automated (through
robotic software automation), will be - if the volume justifies it. If the
process is repeatable across many companies it will be offered as a shared
service on a platform in a cloud.
If you agree with these technology maxims, then you are likely to agree that
most existing business processes offer little competitive advantages in the
long run, and the advantages of new innovations are fleeting so must be

My discussions with organizations looking to “digitally transform”
themselves is yielding some interesting observations. I expect that when
these discussions move into the execution phase, we will start to create some
“Laws of Digital Transformation” that will guide organizations digital
transformation journey. So with that in mind, let me start by proposing these
“4 Laws of Digital Transformation”.
Law #1: It’s About Business Models, Not Just The Business

Two apparently distinct movements are in the process of disrupting the world
of enterprise application development: DevOps and Low-Code.
DevOps is a cultural and organizational shift that empowers enterprise
software teams to deliver better software quicker - in particular, hand-coded
software.
Low-Code platforms, in contrast, provide a technology platform and visual
tooling that empower enterprise software teams to deliver better software
quicker - with little or no hand-coding required.
Two disruptive approaches with remarkably similar value propositions. Except
that one emphasizes hand-coding while the other replaces it.
The obvious question: are we in for some kind of appdev battle to the death,
as the two disparate approaches fight for supremacy?

“You can’t stop the incessant march of economics” – Bill Schmarzo
Okay, so it’s probably not cool to quote oneself, but hey, this is my blog
and I get to do what I want. And for anyone who follows me knows, I love to
“riff” on the game-changing power of economics. The “economics of big
data” – where the cost to store, manage and analyze data is 20x to 100x
cheaper than traditional analytics – started this big data and data science
craze. But ultimately it is the economics of value, or to be specific,
“value in use” where the economics really become a game changer.
I recent article titled “The Simple Economics of Machine Intelligence”
from the Harvard Business Review highlights very well the role that economics
(maybe even more than data science) is going to play in separating the

Cloud providers like AWS have proven to be a viable option for running mainframe application workloads. The most effective method to exploit the value of Unisys mainframe applications and data is a transformative migration to modern systems frameworks in AWS, reusing as much of the original application source as possible.
