Microservices Cookbook: Design Principles and Solution Recipes for
Microservices
Microservices - An Application Revolution Powered by the Cloud
By Neil McEvoy
Our new upcoming ebook is the ‘Microservices Cookbook.'
This will provide a general introduction to the new software design model
known as ‘Microservices,' provide a Platform design for their
implementation, and describe a number of ‘recipe' scenarios for how they
might be applied, including:
E-Commerce Internet of Things NFV Services
As the Microsoft Azure CTO explains microservices represents a major
inflection point for the IT industry - An Application Revolution Powered by
the Cloud. They themselves are pioneering the approach through new products
like ‘Cognitive Microservices‘.
My personal opinion is that they can be defined as the next major milestone
in software engineering ever since, well software was i... (more)
As the title suggests one way to approach the ‘Platform Business Model'
(described in detail in our library section) is to consider how it is being
adapted for specific industry sectors, via Cloud-centric acronyms such as:
GaaP - Government as a Platform BaaP - Banking as a Platform TaaP - Telco as
a Platform
With a key goal of describing practical aspects of the trend and of course
our Cloud focus, this aspect is one of the headline themes of our Platform
ebook.
The agenda will include these specific industry scenarios and we'll explore
them to illicit the key ingredients of a c... (more)
Blockchain Identity - Keystone Foundation for Digital Democracy and Society
By Neil McEvoy
As good Venn diagrams always show it's the intersection areas that offer the
sweet spot for trends and markets, and an especially potent one is the
intersection of Cloud computing, with the blockchain and also digital
identity, particularly when considered within contexts such as Digital
Democracy.
Given the diversity of each field alone there are multiple perspectives to
this, more the start of a conversation rather than a definitive design.
Identity and the Blockchain Cloud
For example Blo... (more)
DCAE – Real-Time Analytics and Cloud Management
Another of the main foundations of the AT&T; Domain 2.0 program is the
‘DCAE’ framework: Data Collection, Analytics and Events. In short their
Big Data platform for enabling smart management.
“In the D2 vision, virtualized functions across various layers of
functionality are expected to be instantiated in a significantly dynamic
manner that requires the ability to provide real-time responses to actionable
events from virtualized resources, ECOMP applications, as well as requests
from customers, AT&T; partners and other providers.

In a VentureBeat article the author describes ‘the future of enterprise
tech‘, describing how pioneering organizations like Netflix are entirely
embracing a Cloud paradigm for their business, moving away from the
traditional approach of owning and operating your own data centre populated
by EMC, Oracle and VMware.
Instead they are moving to ‘web scale IT’ via on demand rental of
containers, commodity hardware and NoSQL databases, but critically it’s not
just about swapping out the infrastructure components.
The Cloud Native Enterprise
This approach to IT has also come to be known... (more)
