Digital Experience: The Power of Brand and Mitigating Risk in the Age of
Digital Transformation
The current age of digital transformation means that IT organizations must
adapt their toolset to cover all digital experiences, beyond just the end
users'. Today's businesses can no longer focus solely on the digital
interactions they manage with employees or customers; they must now contend
with non-traditional factors. Whether it's the power of brand to make or
break a company, the need to monitor across all locations 24/7, or the
ability to proactively resolve issues, companies must adapt to the new world.

Lego Land: The Building Blocks of Innovation
Explosive technological advancement has created a molten landscape of
disruption, reinvention and creation.
New services arrive and become versatile building blocks for new ideas,
products and businesses.
As intuitive and intelligent technology relieves us of administrative
burdens, we can spend more energy on what matters: curiosity, imagination,
personal connection, reflection. As technology blurs lines between work and
home, physical and digital, there is profound opportunity not just in what
these new technologies are but in why they matter in human terms.
In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Andrew Bolwell, HP Printing and
Personal Systems Director of Innovation, will report from the dawn of the new
Innovation Age.

During the Cold War the armies of East and West faced off along thousands of
miles of borders with tens of thousands of tanks, artillery units, defensive
positions, guns and soldiers. The costs for supporting these defensive
postures were enormous. Nations invested hundreds of billions of dollars over
the years maintaining these positions, not to counter an immediate known
threat, but to prevent an unknown future threat. In other words, they were
investing in mass weapons, mass equipment, mass training and mass supplies to
prevent an unknown threat, at an unknown location, at an unknown time. They
were investing to combat ignorance - a lack of knowledge. They spent
massive amounts defending against the unknown - everywhere. That spending
was the same as an ignorance penalty. A penalty, so huge, it negatively
impacted the economic futures of many countries.

Kin Lane recently wrote a couple of blogs about why copyrighting an API is
not common. I couldn’t agree more that copyrighting APIs is uncommon. First
of all, the API definition is just an interface (It is the implementation
detail that is important, and needs to be guarded), so it doesn’t make any
sense to copyright an interface. (It is almost like copyrighting a pretty
face ). Secondly, the whole idea of exposing an API is you are looking for
others to finish the work you started by just providing the plumbing work.
Why would anyone want to get involved with a copyrighted API and finish your
work for you?
Kin Lane says, “API copyright would prevent the reuse and remix of common
or successful API patterns within a space. We are at a point where
aggregating common, popular APIs into single, standardized interfaces is
emerging as the next evolution in web and mobil... (more)
A completely new computing platform is on the horizon. They're called
Microservers by some, ARM Servers by others, and sometimes even ARM-based
Servers. No matter what you call them, Microservers will have a huge impact
on the data center and on server computing in general.
What Is a Microserver...and What Isn't
Although few people are familiar with Microservers today, their impact will
be felt very soon. This is a new category of computing platform that is
available today and is predicted to have triple-digit growth rates for some
years to come - growing to over 20% of the server market by 2016 according to
Oppenheimer ("Cloudy With A Chance of ARM" Oppenheimer Equity Research
Industry Report).
According to Chris Piedmonte, CEO of Suvola Corporation - a software and
services company focused on creating preconfigured and scalable Microserver

The goal of any DevOps solution is to optimize multiple processes in an
organization. And success does not necessarily require that in executing the
strategy everything needs to be automated to produce an effective plan. Yet,
it is important that processes are put in place to handle a necessary list of
items.

The World's Many IoTs: Which Are the Most Important?
The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics,
wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more.
Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a
diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in
all these areas.
In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger
Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will
have the most profound effect on the world, and what should we expect to see
over the next couple of years.

Ten Myths of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is transforming the way businesses think about and leverage
technology. As a result, the general understanding of cloud computing has
come a long way in a short time. However, there are still many misconceptions
about what cloud computing is and what it can do for businesses that adopt
this game-changing computing model. In this exclusive Q&A; with Cloud Expo
Conference Chair Jeremy Geelan, Rex Wang, Vice President of Product Marketing
at Oracle, discusses and dispels some of the common myths about cloud
computing that still exist today.
Cloud Computing Journal: Why do you think organizations often misunderstand
cloud computing?
Rex Wang: Overall, the understanding of cloud computing has come a long way
over the past few years. Cloud technology is being embraced by a growing
number of organizations each year, while other... (more)
