"As companies such as MySpace continue to expand the richness of their site,
the big thing is trying to seek a higher level of customer experience by
replicating "beyond capacity" in a test environment, so that a company can
see what it is exactly that they will need when traffic surges to peak levels
and beyond, so that they know the "risk points" of their own success," Tom
Lounibos, CEO of SOASTA, told SYS-CON's Jeremy Geelan in an interview with
Cloud Computing Journal on the day that SOASTA announced a significant test
of the newly launched MySpace Music Videos hub using the Cloud.
"What companies want nowadays is actionable information," Lounibos (pictured
below) continued. "They want PI (Performance Intelligence) instead of BI
[Business Intelligence]."

Ever since I first published here my tentative list of Top Players in the
Cloud Computing Ecosystem - now expanded to a list of 250 and growing daily
thanks to community feedback via my Twitter account (@jg21) and a very kind
mention by ReadWriteWeb - there have been suggestions that another prism
through which to view cloud computing might be that of people rather than
companies.
Now Michael Sheehan has encouraged me to Just Do It, so let me get

Cloud Expo Early Bird Savings

SYS-CON Events announced today that Jim Reavis, Executive Director for Cloud
Security Alliance, will be presenting at next week's Cloud Computing Expo
Europe 2009 (www.cloudexpo-europe.com) May 18-19, 2009, in Prague, Czech

Workday, PeopleSoft founder Dave Duffield's latest company, has just gotten
another $75 million in funding, a sum that would bring its total to more than
$150 million and must make it the most royally financed SaaS venture on the
face of the earth.
The new money, Workday's fifth round, came from New Enterprise Associates as
well as existing investors Greylock Partners and Duffield himself.
The company, which rents out enterprise-class HR and financial software
online, means to spend it extending its product portfolio and supporting its
market expansion.
To push that market expansion Workday has named Clark Newby VP of marketing.
Newby was plucked out of the same job at Fortify Software. It's a job he did
for PolyServe before it was acquired by HP. He's been in marketing through
stints at Mercury Interactive, Kintana and the old SGI.
