Salesforce.com has hired Polly Sumner, one of the old Oracle mafia, as
president, platform, alliances and services, responsible for the technology
and marketing of the company's Force.com platform. Sumner was recently
president of global services for Telcordia, the telecoms outfit, and from
1987-1999 worked at Oracle with Salesforce founder Marc Benioff. Force.com
lets third parties access Salesforce's infrastructure and develop software
that Salesforce hosts.
Apple Bows to EC on iTunes Pricing
Apple has changed its iTunes pricing in Europe to satisfy the European
Commission and avoid getting fined. Pricing will be uniform across Britain
and the continent within six months after Apple lowers its UK prices. It's
threatening to ditch record labels that insist on higher prices in the UK

Universal Music Group has a long history of bringing lawsuits upon music and
video sharing services (MySpace, Veoh and its investors, Grouper / Bolt.com,
etc.), so it’s kind of surprising to see them link to a clip of one of
their biggest artists, rapper and producer Eminem, which has not been
authorized by its copyright holders (i.e. Universal Music themselves).
Update: the news item has been updated as a result of this coverage. Good
thing we have a screenshot.
The link can be found on this January 7 news item on the UMG website about
the ‘leaking’ of Eminem’s newest track, and leads to this YouTube clip
posted by a regular YouTube user. In case you were wondering, Universal Music
Group has an official channel on the video sharing site which does not
feature a clip for this particular track yet.

that I have a correct understanding of the "unanticipated user." What is the
"unanticipated user?" EXAMPLE Suppose you deploy a web service to provide
currency exchange rates - a user sends two currencies (e.g., USD and CAN) and
your web service responds with their exchange rates (1 USD = 1.23 CAN, 1 CAN
= 0.90 USD). The "unanticipated user" means the users of your web service may
be unknown to you. It does not mean that requests made by users are unknown
or arbitrary. For example, your web service can't be expected to handle
