I am always being told off by i-technologists for quoting Picasso as having
said that computers are useless. But I still love his reasoning? "Because
they can only give you answers."
Picasso, like AJAXWorld Magazine, liked questions. So we thought we would
share with you what some of the world's leading rich Internet application
pioneers are thinking may be the next questions that we need to see answered.
From that readers can themselves infer where AJAX is headed.
What are the top questions to ask next about AJAX?
Eric Miraglia of Yahoo!
1. (From March'08) How do I calculate the ROI of building my RIA on the
iPhone SDK vs using AJAX?
2. How do I assess the performance of my app and decide what to do next to
make it faster?

Jeanne asked two questions at our TechNet Event a couple of weeks ago:
So.. in question #1 you’re asking about the implications of using one
particular .VHD (virtual hard disk) disk type; Fixed, Differencing, or
Dynamic. To answer that question, first let me take a minute to describe
what these types are. I’ll point to some benefits and weaknesses, and
then I’ll point you to some documentation on what the performance impacts
are.
First of all you should understand that when you create a VHD file you have
three choices. Two of these choices concern the difference between what the
virtual machine or file system thinks it has when compared the actual file of
the disk, and one has to do with a linked relationship between disks.
Fixed: This is a disk that, to the file system using it, believes it is a
certain size.. and that size matches the actual size of the .VHD fi... (more)
Amid the slew of articles offering advice on Big Data, Joab
Jackson's, Five Things CIOs Should Know About Big Data. stood out because of
how absolutely spot on it was.
The five points he makes nearly always come up in our conversations with
customers and prospects:
You will need to think about big data. What we're seeing now is that the
price of entry to big data, at least from a CapEx standpoint, is pretty low.
Open source tools like Hadoop, Cassandra, MongoDB, MapReduce and others,
combined with the relatively low price of cloud computing, means
organizations that may not have been inclined to collect, store and analyze
their data volumes are now more willing and able to do so. Useful data can
come from anywhere. Data that used to be "dropped on the floor" is one way to
categorize big data. Gazzang CEO, Larry Warnock, likens to big data to a

It’s incredibly common to hear people complain about Facebook and Twitter.
Just last week my Facebook feed was filled with whining from users being
forced into the timeline format. But even the most common complaints are
often ignored by Facebook, Twitter and other free social networks, and why
shouldn’t they be? We don’t pay for these services, so regular users
aren’t treated the way most compa... (more)

I own the first two versions of this book and was looking forward to the
third version. There was a lot of change between the first and second
editions, but this third edition does not have that much new material. The
authors let you know in the preface that the major update to this version of
the book is that it has been updated for Visual Studio 2012. My personal
preference is to always have the latest edition.
I would say if you want to get familiar with doing Scrum with TFS this is the
book you want. It really does not cover the other templates at all. I am not
saying that is bad, but when I read the second edition of the book it is not
what I expected or wanted. I already had read enough on Scrum to last me a
lifetime. I wanted to see more on the other templates.
All that said, if you have not had the opportunity to get familiar with Scrum
this is a great place t... (more)
