Wikipedia Nixes "Enterprise 2.0"

(August 19, 2066) - This week's remarkable deletion, from Wikipedia, of the useful colloquy "Enterprise 2.0" coined by a Harvard Business School professor (Andrew McAfee, pictured) and popularized by Web 2.0 Journal editor-in-chief Dion Hinchcliffe - has set the cat among the pigeons. When someone as eminent as Prof. Andrew McAfee, who first coined the term in March 2006, is writing articles in the MIT Sloan Management Review entitled "Enterprise 2.0: The Dawn of Emergent Collaboration", then it is surely an odd time for Wikipedia, of all reference sources, to be suggesting that there's no consensus on the value or meaning of such a term. McAfee is an associate professor with the Technology and Operations Management Unit at Harvard Business School, so he is no lightweight. His HBS faculty blog gave an early account of the nixing on Thursday. The most insightful view o... (more)

President & CTO of 3tera Speaking Next Week at SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Expo November 19-21 in Silicon Valley

Not only need they interoperate with all sorts of hardware and software as virtual appliances, they need to interoperate with other Clouds and Cloud components as well. Now, of course, the two undisputed leaders in virtualization, VMWare and Citrix/Xen, have both announced suites of products in support of Cloud Computing - vCloud and Citrix Cloud Center (C3), respectively. Undoubtedly, Microsoft and Red Hat and more will follow. The anticipation that drove our Cloudware architecture is proving spot on. There will be multiple global Clouds, they will not all be the same, and the ones that will get the brass rings will be the ones that ... (more)

Dating back to 1999, it was co-founded by longtime industry executive Jonathan Rosenberg, who spent two decades in the US in the direct response industry. "The most important issue for business executives is driving topline revenue, and we help our clients do that." I met Jonathan during an event called Convergence 2009, part of a convention at Clark that was sponsored by the Philippine government. The event attracted local business leaders and foreign executives, as well as students eager to ... (more)
