The problem with the notion of “Windows for EC2” is that it perpetuates
the broken, legacy model of tying your application to the infrastructure upon
which it runs. In the legacy model, applications became artificially tied to
the physical server upon which they ran, and server utilization was low
because it is very difficult to run multiple applications on a single
instance of a general purpose operating system.
The reason it is difficult to run multiple applications on a single instance
of a general purpose operating system is because each application has unique
needs which conflict or compete with the unique needs of other applications.
Virtualization technology, such as that provided by VMware or Citrix with
XenServer, breaks the bond of the application to a physical server by placing
a layer of software, called a hypervisor, on t... (more)
In the previous article Cloud Equals SaaS, Grid, Utility Computing,
Hosting...? I made the following statement:
"SaaS is one of the three possible Cloud Computing delivery modes; however,
to be considered Cloud Computing, any of those delivery modes must have
certain specific characteristics"
So, in this article we will look at those specific characteristics that
define exactly what is Cloud Computing, so that next time you will be able to
evaluate if a specific offer is truly Cloud Computing, or simply a
pre-existing offering that has the Cloud label slapped on it.
We can state that Cloud Computing allows business to increase IT capacity (or
add capabilities) on the fly and in real time (Internet-enabled), without
investing in new infrastructure, training new personnel or licensing new
software, and as a pay-per-use service.
However, the above definition is not comple... (more)

iTunes
Facebook and Apple deepened their alliance on Monday, as Facebook Gifts is
starting to sell iTunes digital gift certificates. Upon purchase, Facebook
users can suggest what music, video, or apps their friends should spend their
$10, $15, $25, or $50 credit on. By adding one of the world’s most popular
presents to its Gifts store, Facebook Gifts could boost sales and split the
30% margins with Apple. What the actual revenue split is remains a secret. We
do know there’s no shipping costs for either partner to pay for, and Apple
typically taxes content and app creators a 30% to be sold in iTunes. Read the

Russian hackers are notorious for their hacking skills, but one American says he hacked a Russian cyber gang at just 15 years old.
The government eventually caught up with Taylor and he pleaded guilty to posting the personal information on the internet, among other charges.
Eric Taylor, who went by the nickname Cosmo the God, also posted personal information of celebrities and government officials, including Michelle Obama, former CIA director John Brennan, Kim Kardashian and Tiger Woods.

The more business becomes digital the more stakeholders are interested in this data including how it relates to business. Some of these people have never used a monitoring tool before. They have a question on their mind like "How is my application doing" but no idea how to get a proper answer. Oct. 30, 2018 11:45 AM EDT | By Yeshim Deniz Every organization is facing their own Digital Transformation as they attempt to stay ahead of the competition, or worse, just keep up. Each new opportunity, whether embracing machine learning, IoT, or a cloud migration, seems to bring new development, deployment, and management models. The results are more diverse and federated computing models than any time in our history.
Unfortunately, there is no single deployment model that solves all of your business goals. You need to maintain the flexibility to deploy in your data center, to multi-clouds, or push to the edge to meet business specific cost, agility or application requirements. Oct. 30, 2018 11:15 AM EDT |
