Hi Michael and Robert, Thanks for reponding to this question. You are
right about it my Java application is having diffulty reading
stateStyleSheet.xsl. I have overcame it by moving it to a new project and
suspects that the order of jar files in CLASSPATH were in the wrong order.
Nevertheless, I now encountered another issue this time:

Twitter on Ulitzer
That’s 12 million people engaged in 27.3 million conversations on Twitter
every day. They are branding your company even if they are not mentioning
you. That kind of branding is called “ignoring the non-entity.” In
financial social media marketing and every other industry it’s the branding
of the invisible.
This increased and increasing volume of “conversation” is indicative of
the heightened adoption of social media in general and reflects a significant
shift in how marketers approach customers. The shift from talking “at”
customers to having a conversation “with” them has begun in earnest.
Watch Mad Men on AMC and see the difference between an ad monologue to many
and a one-on-one conversation. Brands no longer say to their customers what
they are. Rather, it is the customers themselves who are saying to the brand,
“Here’s what you are to me.... (more)
At the end of the year - and in this case the end of a decade - I thought it
made sense to look back at what has been and try and predict what may be.
Many already have named 2010 the year of Cloud Computing, so I decided to
call on Google Trends to put this into a little perspective.
Below you see the results, I expect you may be as (pleasantly) surprised as I
was.
As I personally spend the last decade dabbling in Service Oriented
Architectures (SOA), Service Management (ITIL) and Project and Portfolio
Management (PPM) I used these as anchor points for this perspective. In
addition I decided to include Cloud Computing's slightly more mature nephew
(SaaS) also in to the fold. The epiphany for me personally was that it
explained why I had found it so hard to choose between SOA, PPM and ITIL
(design, build and run). But enough about me.
The rise of Cloud Computing’s fr... (more)
Currently several major organizations have encountered the problem of
managing large volumes of data. These organizations have so far tried to
develop solutions on established architectures, but unfortunately do not get
the results you expect to have with high workloads representing Big Data
processing, which grows ever more rapidly.
Perhaps this new server HP announced today, elProLiant Gen8 SL4500, can help
with this problem, as it was created solely thinking Big Data processing.
ProLiant SL4500 is a server that includes processing, networking and storage
units, which in theory and according to HP, optimize the performance of
applications such as Hadoop and OpenStack.
HP says that this server uses roughly 60% less energy, requires fewer wires
and takes up half the floor space of other servers. It has a modular design
that allows for various types of storage configurat... (more)
As the Big Data hype machine continues its relentless attempt to gobble
everything in its path, new business units and entire new domains buying into
the promise find themselves faced with unanticipated data volume and
complexity. They see the potential for data-based decision making, but still
face (short-term?) challenges in actually managing, analysing or interpreting
the data they now collect.
Early iterations of core tools such as Hadoop were raw and unpolished,
driving the emergence of a niche group of developers and data analysts with
the specialist skills to cope. Those tools become easier to use with each new
release, which goes some way toward countering panicked claims of a massively
yawning skills gap.
There is, of course, still a need for people with specialist knowledge,
hard-won skills, and painfully gained experience. But you no longer (if you

This coming Tuesday, August 27, our US Chief Scientist Mario Inchosa will
reveal some details of the forthcoming in-Hadoop predictive analytics
capabilities of Revolution R Enterprise 7, due for release later this year.
Here's the abtract of his webinar, High Performance Predictive Analytics in
R and Hadoop: Hadoop is rapidly being adopted as a major platform for storing
and managing massive amounts of data, and for computing descriptive and query
types of analytics on that data. However, it has a reputation for not being a
suitable environment for high performance complex iterative algorithms such
as logistic regression, generalized linear models, and decision trees. At
Revolution Analytics, we think that reputation is unjustified, and in this
webinar, you will learn the approach we have taken to porting our suite of
High Performance Analytics algorithms to run nat... (more)

IoT & Smart Cities Stories By Pat Romanski Whenever a new technology hits the high points of hype, everyone starts talking about it like it will solve all their business problems. Blockchain is one of those technologies. According to Gartner's latest report on the hype cycle of emerging technologies, blockchain has just passed the peak of their hype cycle curve. If you read the news articles about it, one would think it has taken over the technology world.

Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded.
