Can Developers Benefit from Regulatory Compliance?
Effectively SMBs and government programs must address compounded regulatory
compliance requirements. The most recent are Controlled Unclassified
Information and the EU's GDPR have Board Level implications. Managing
sensitive data protection will likely result in acquisition criteria,
demonstration requests and new requirements. Developers, as part of the
pre-planning process and the associated supply chain, could benefit from
updating their code libraries and design by incorporating changes.
In her session at 19th Cloud Expo, Maria C. Horton, Founder and CEO of EmeSec
Incorporated, will discuss how addressing the new liabilities of Sensitive
Data Tracking for GDPR and CUI via code design can reap huge benefits for
organizations and for developers that do just that whether in cloud, IoT or
traditional environments.

In a past post I elaborated on social networks like Twitter as being a Help
engine; an alternative to a search engine in some cases in finding answers
and making decisions.
I also paralleled this concept to the aims of KM, productivity, performance,
sense-making, decision-making, etc:
“I think it’s getting us closer to the KM productivity (sense-making) aim
that knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer has always aspired to, which
is:
finding the right information at the right time re-frame that information to
be usable in your context and situation by connecting you to a social network
of people you trust who will be willing to help out in a reciprocal
relationship
(which also helps out in the re-contextualising process as you share a common
wavelength or level understanding with people in your network) learning
organisation, information re-use, and corporate memo... (more)

Happy New Year All!!
2011 will be the breakout year for GovCloud! Pressure to reduce budget,
pressure to manage I resources better and the political pressure of the next
presidential election will combine to accelerate adoption. The GSA IaaS
groundwork has been laid and new policies are just about ready to be released
!!
Here are my predictions for GovCloud!
The US Federal government will award over $2B in cloud computing related
contracts. The USDA and GSA email deals are just the beginning. GSA final
approval to the 11 government IaaS awardees will open the floodgate to rapid
cloud experimentation. Lack of a final 2011 Federal budget will make cloud
computing one of the few viable options for executing new IT programs next
year. The European Union will establish a European community cloud computing

SANTA CLARA, CA and PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/19/13 -- Palo Alto
Networks® (NYSE: PANW) and VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW) today announced a
partnership backed by a new jointly-developed solution. The integrated
solution will enable customers to use the VMware NSX network virtualization
platform to automate provisioning and distribution of Palo Alto Networks
next-generation network security in their software-defined data centers.
Security provisioning and change management is an operational challenge for
today's dynamic cloud data center environments. Network security
configuration and policy assignment can be slow, rigid and lag behind the
pace and ease of application provisioning. At the same time, a
next-generation security platform -- where security policies are tied to
applications, users and data -- is a growing requirement for an effective

WinterGreen Research announces that it has published a new study Small Cells
and Femtocells: Market Shares, Strategy, and Forecasts, Worldwide, 2013 to
2019. The 2013 study has 413 pages, 162 tables and figures. Worldwide markets
are poised to achieve significant growth as small cell and femtocells and
trucks permit users to implement automated driving.
Small cells are better than base stations for expanding wireless
infrastructure coverage in the ear of smart phones. Wireless signals have
incremental strength added locally in home, airport, or enterprise. Small
cells are able to offload traffic from the macro network to an underlay
network at a street and indoor level. Small cells work for individual

A robust ecosystem of solutions providers is emerging around cloud computing.
Here, SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Journal expands its list of most active
players in the fast-emerging Cloud Ecosystem, from the 'mere' 100 we
identified back in January of this year, to half as many again - testimony,
if any further were needed, to the fierce and continuing growth of the
"Elastic IT" paradigm throughout the world of enterprise computing.

operations managers, and new/growing companies in every case to "suck it and

IoT & Smart Cities Stories By Pat Romanski The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded.
