MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Daston Corporation today announced that Michael "Mike" Pait has joined the company as Vice President of Business Development on Sept. 8. As Vice President of Business Development, Pait will pursue new opportunities and business partnerships in the federal information technology arena, and help to grow the company across all departments. He brings to the position a robust past performance record that includes teaming with high-end partners and winning prime contracts.
"I am pleased to name Michael Pait as Daston's new Business Development executive. His leadership and strategic procurement expertise involving the public sector will be of immense value as we pursue new business ventures," said Daston President, Gary Callen. "He strongly believes in adding value to every engagement, every partner, and every customer. To this end, we're glad to have him on our team."
Prior to joining Daston, Pait led professional services and business development efforts at Koniag Services, Inc., an Alaska-native owned IT solutions company. He has also led very successful services and business development activities for Merlin International, a consulting, sales and services firm based in Englewood, Colorado. In previous positions held, Pait ensured high utilization of company services and oversaw personnel resources, bid and proposal efforts, and was responsible for a high level of business growth and for maturing internal organizational processes.
His expertise is built on extensive on-site experience with the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Global Combat Support System (GCSS), and the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) programs, among other projects. He is a seasoned software practitioner with engineering and architectural expertise in mainframes, client-server, object-oriented development, artificial intelligence, and all major software architectural and software development methodologies.
"I'm eager to join Daston -- a company that is poised for tremendous growth," said Pait. "Having the opportunity to help propel the Daston team forward, and more importantly help navigate and capitalize on new technology opportunity, is what I'm most excited about. My past experience in the federal arena will most certainly be an asset as we seek to expand our cloud computing and Software as a Service offerings beyond our current commercial sector practice."
Pait served in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1997 as a Lieutenant Colonel. While in the military, he developed and staffed enterprise policy relating to software development and process maturation. He eventually became known as an expert in Command and Control (C2) software by helping to expand the capabilities of C2 systems from the tactical to the strategic level.
Pait received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from East Carolina University in 1978, and in 1987 he earned his Master of Science in Computer Science from the Florida Institute of Technology. Additionally, he was awarded a post-graduate certificate in Software Systems Engineering from George Mason University in 1997. He is an active member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), the Association for Federal Information Resource Management (AFFIRM), and the Commemorative Air Force (CAF).

If we can boil down algorithms into such data sets, then we can make some headway. For example, if an AI-based application has access to a vast number of human-created workflows, then it can make a pretty good guess as to the next step in a workflow you might be working on at the moment.
In other words, we now have autocomplete for algorithms – what we call ‘next best action.’ We may still have to give our so...
