REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and TOKYO, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- ITOCHU Techno- Solutions Corp. (commonly called CTC with its HQs at Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. President & CEO: Yoichi Okuda) is partnering with SpikeSource (HQs at Redwood, Calif. President & CEO: Kim Polese) and will start delivering the SpikeSource servlet stack and Spike(TM) Net support services today.

The product consists of the SpikeSource servlet stack, the SpikeNet update service, and SpikeNet support service. The SpikeSource servlet stack is a reliable, tested combination of OSS middleware including the Apache Web Server, Tomcat Application Server, PostgreSQL Database and associated libraries and utilities. The servlet stack will enable enterprise customers to use the most current OSS middleware with ease.

CTC has been working on strengthening its systems infrastructure design capability using Linux. The partnership with SpikeSource makes it possible for CTC to offer complete services from system infrastructure design to support and maintenance by using OSS. Furthermore, it will strengthen OSS- related businesses by increasing its OSS solutions.

Demand for systems using OSS is now rapidly growing in light of the advantages of OSS in systems investment reduction and its expandability. However, there were several critical issues such as quality control and support services that were difficult to perform for OSS. SpikeNet simplifies such issues and lowers the support burden and maintenance costs when OSS is used.

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...
