Simula Labs Launches Hosted Delivery Platform To Enable Enterprise Open Source Adoption

CoRE Network Offers Enterprise IT A Single, Integrated Marketplace For Evaluating Open Source Distributions From OSS Communities

Simula Labs announced the availability of a complete hosted distribution delivery platform for complimentary open source technologies with the Community-oriented Real-time Engineering (CoRE) Network. The CoRE Network is the first delivery platform to offer enterprise IT a comprehensive framework for successfully adopting open source projects and processes through its hosted service, support and artifact repository platform.

Simula Labs was conceived to accelerate open source adoption rates, by identifying and then building open source companies in key infrastructure market segments. Simula Labs’ CoRE Network naturally evolves this strategy, by providing a robust, community-oriented marketplace that gives enterprises a complete roadmap for adopting, managing and leveraging open source technologies from leading open source partner companies, including Covalent Technologies, Webtide and Chariot Solutions.

“The CoRE Network provides the ideal model and structure to drive the adoption of open source in the enterprise by reducing the amount of risk enterprises must assume when integrating it into their application and IT infrastructure,” said Winston Damarillo, CEO of Simula Labs. “By providing an aggregated marketplace that supports developers and consumers of open source, we are working to provide a roadmap for enterprise open source consumption.”

The CoRE Network offers developer and production-level support, release maintenance and software life-cycle management best practices for enterprises to easily and rapidly integrate, control and automate hybrid software environments, such as applications with open source and proprietary artifacts and components. The CoRE Network tests, documents and validates open source distributions, transforming them from popular open source projects to production-ready, indemnified solutions instrumented for enterprise deployment.

The CoRE Network gives customers access to: Open source runtimes, source code and dependencies; Tooling that includes continuous integration and testing, systems monitoring and management to give IT control over building, deploying and managing supported runtimes; and The professional expertise of project founders, community engineers and professional consultants.

Simula Labs separately announced an additional partnership with Covalent Technologies, provider of complete enterprise open source solutions, who will provide its solutions for the Apache HTTP Web Server and Apache Tomcat, through the CoRE Network. Additional CoRE Network open source technology and service partners include LogicBlaze, Mergere, Webtide and Chariot Solutions.

“Enterprises are moving away from high-priced vendors as the availability of mature open source projects continue to grow and are being packaged as quality tested solutions,” said Mark Brewer, CEO, Covalent Technologies. “The CoRE Network provides the added quality assurance and choice of the most popular open source technologies, which is important for customers who don’t want to be locked into a proprietary solution. Covalent is partnering with Simula because creating a platform for a safe and easily integrated open source infrastructure requires the combined technologies of other best-of-breed companies in the open source community.”
