Chris Matthieu Named Internet of @ThingsExpo Tech Chair
Internet of @ThingsExpo has announced today that Chris Matthieu has been
named tech chair of Internet of @ThingsExpo 2014 Silicon Valley.
The 2nd Global Internet of @ThingsExpo will take place on November 4-6, 2014,
at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Chris Matthieu has two decades of telecom and web experience. He launched his
Teleku cloud communications-as-a-service platform at eComm in 2010, which was
acquired by Voxeo. Next he built an open source Node.JS PaaS called Nodester,

Maureen O'Gara reported on the Red Hat order, but she shows some confusion
about the wording of the order. O'Gara is a good reporter, and it's easy to
misunderstand legalese, but it seems worthwhile to clarify so no one
gets confused.
First, here is what she wrote about the judge:
"She agrees with Red Hat that it has a 'reasonable apprehension' of
eventually being sued by SCO since 'There is no question that Red Hat is a
Linux software developer who is engaging in the allegedly infringing
activities' that SCO is claiming and since, as Robinson reckons, SCO has
basically said it would sue Red Hat.
"The line 'There will a day of reckoning for Red Hat' that fell from the lips
of SCO CEO Darl McBride didn't pass her notice no matter how SCO has
subsequently attempted to construe the remark.

During the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, cloud computing was a popular topic
among companies and attendees. GoGrid, who has a booth at LinuxWorld, is at
the show to discuss its services and why users should select its services
over Amazon and others.
GoGrid admits Amazon is its biggest competitor, but says the main difference
is that it's the first one available that has a Web-based GUI and supports
both Microsoft Windows and Linux.
Cloud computing, as it matures, offers both home users and corporations the
ability to store data in the cloud while at the same time having multiple
options when selecting a certain service to choose from. The companies
promoting cloud computing admit there are some minor problems facing the
technology, but look forward to helping more people adopt the technology.

It is mixer time again, and this should be an interesting and well-attended
event, considering the sponsor/hosts this time around.
There were three biz dev guys from Apple at the one in April and this time
they're taking on the all important "paying for munchies and buying some
drinks" duties. Dmitry Sokolov at Ingram, who graciously organizes the
events and sweet-talks vendors into sponsorships, says the Apple Canada guys
will be out in force and will bring along some toys.
Not a lot of the DS world runs on the Mac OS, but the Mac Mini would probably
smoke many or all of its rivals if it was running XP. The price and form
factor are good, and the people I know who have installed Windows or Linux on
it (it takes some knowledge) say the quality of video playback is
outstanding.
