The Human Body and Data Center Automation - Part 2
Disclaimer: I am an IT guy and my knowledge on human body is limited to my
daughter's high school biology class book and information obtained from
search engines. So, excuse me if any of the information below is not
represented accurately !!
Human body is the most complex machine ever created. With a complex network
of interconnected organs, millions of cells and the most advanced processor,
human body is the most automated system in this planet. In this article, we
will draw comparisons between working of a human body to that of a data
center. We will draw parallels between human body automation to data center
automation and explain different levels of automation we need to drive in
data centers. This article is divided into four parts covering each of body
main functions and drawing parallels on automation. This i... (more)
Many times, sports have been at the leading edge of data analytics. The
book “Moneyball” was one of the first popular books to bring the basic
concepts behind data analytics and data science to the general audience.
Fantasy leagues, sabermetrics and even games like “Strat-O-Matic”
baseball and basketball provided an introduction into basic statistical
concepts.
And it now seems that sports, in this case the National Basketball
Association (NBA), are breaking new ground with another data analytics topic:
who owns the data? The National Basketball Players Association recently
banned NBA teams from using a player’s wearable data in contract
negotiations or other transactions (see “NBA Bans Teams From Using Wearable
Data In Contract Negotiations”).
Maybe after the bitter fights professional and college athletes had about
their “likeness” being used for advertising... (more)

Here are three recent news articles that feature interviews with members of
the Revolution Analytics team talking about the importance of the R language:
In Forbes, CEO Dave Rich talks to Gil Press about the business landscape for
Big Data. In the article, Dave says:
SAS and SPSS remind me of Cobol and Fortran circa 1995. The scientific and

Are your analyst, blogger, media or press requests being read?
By Greg Schulz
Are you a marketing or public relations, press or analyst relations or social
media expert and your email messages, notes, updates or requests get
overlooked? Are you in the first paragraph or couple of sentences indicating
who you are representing, what the info or request is about as well as what
call to action you are looking for? If you are doing what is done in many of
the requests for coverage or meetings or even announcements, you may be
getting overlooked resulting in a missed opportunity, that is unless your
goal is to simply gauge how many requests you send out.

Nowadays every single CIO, CTO, or business executive s captivated by these
three new technologies: Big Data, API management and IoTs (Internet of
Things). Every single organizational executive that I speak with confirms
that they either have current projects that are actively using these
technologies, or they are in the planning stages and are about to embark on
the mission soon.
Though the underlying need and purpose served are unique to each of these
technologies, they all have one thing common. They all necessitate newer
security models and security tools to serve any organization well. I will
explain that in a bit, but let us see what is the value added by these
technologies to any organization:
IoT – is specific data collection points that employ sensors placed
anywhere and everywhere. Most often times the information collected by these
devices are sensitive... (more)
