(@WebRTCSummit) will take place Nov 6-7, 2013, at the Santa Clara Convention

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) is an open source project supported by
Google, Mozilla and Opera that aims to enable browser-to-browser applications
for voice calling, video chat, and P2P file sharing without plugins. Its
mission is "To enable rich, high quality, RTC applications to be developed in
the browser via simple Javascript APIs and HTML5."

Gartner, Inc. on Tuesday highlighted the top ten technologies and trends that
will be strategic for most organizations in 2014. Analysts presented their
findings during Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, being held here through October 10.
Gartner defines a strategic technology as one with the potential for
significant impact on the enterprise in the next three years. Factors that
denote significant impact include a high potential for disruption to IT or
the business, the need for a major dollar investment, or the risk of being
late to adopt.
A strategic technology may be an existing technology that has matured and/or
become suitable for a wider range of uses. It may also be an emerging
technology that offers an opportunity for strategic business advantage for
early adopters or with potential for significant market disruption in the

The ‘platform’ tier in the middle of cloud computing’s architecture is
being squeezed, folded and reshaped beyond recognition. Even with continued
investment, can it survive the transformative pressures forcing down upon it
from the software/application layer above, or the apparently inexorable
upward movement from the infrastructure layer upon which it rests?
To look at recent investments and enthusiastic headlines, it would be easy to
assume that Platform as a Service (or PaaS) is on the up. RedHat recently
trumpeted the launch of OpenShift Enterprise — a ‘private PaaS,’
whatever that might be. Eagerly tracked super-startup Pivotal pushed
PivotalOne out to the world, strengthening the position of the Cloud Foundry
PaaS offering upon which it sits. Apprenda, a PaaS that almost predates wider

@ThingsExpo New York " will take place at 14th Cloud Expo, being held June
10-12, 2014, at the Javits Center in New York City.
Nominations for participating vendors will be accepted through Twitter at

providers are expected to participate, will be held live on stage at the
