How to Become the "Most Popular" @CloudEXPO, DXWorldEXPO and @DevOpsSummit Speaker
With 10 simultaneous tracks, 22 keynotes and general sessions, and 200 breakout classes, @CloudEXPO and DXWorldEXPO are two of the most important technology events of the year. Since its launch over eight years ago, @CloudEXPO and DXWorldEXPO have presented a rock star faculty as well as showcased hundreds of sponsors and exhibitors!
In this blog post, we provide 7 tips on how, as part of our world-class faculty, you can deliver one of the most popular sessions at our events. But before reading these essential tips, please take a moment and watch this brief video from Sandy Carter.
"Cloud Expo was really the event to connect with thought leaders, innovators, business folks who are interested in what the cloud can bring to their business. You know really how it allows them to bring the transformation of the business process."
Sandy Carter
1) Submit your session proposal well in advance
The "call for papers" for our next conference is already open. Our conference editorial board evaluates and accepts speaking proposals daily from experienced and well-respected speakers who are experts in their areas of presentation. Accepted session abstracts are published as part of the daily conference news and shared with the industry.
2) Select your session title and content carefully
It's not always sufficient to be highly knowledgeable and well known in your area of expertise. Your topic and session content are very important if you want to speak to a full room with standing room only as the attendees are eager to hear what you have to say. At our past events we have seen celebrity speakers talking to empty rooms, while a first-time presenter attracts crowds in the next hall. Think about what conference delegates want to learn in new and cutting-edge technologies and topics while working on your session abstract and talk.
3) Take your time and update your slide deck
It's easy to fly around from one conference to another with a stale slide deck. Delegates know what they want to learn and they pay attention to these details. Take your time and improve the content of your presentation if you are one of these speakers. Don't forget, in your time slot you are competing with nine other speakers and their presentations.
4) Avoid product pitches
We do not accept product pitches as our conference talks. Our delegates are there to learn about skills, techniques and technologies. They generally skip any session that looks like a product pitch. Keep your slide deck for your company's user conference.
5) Create a SYS-CON author blog and publish expert content
This is a big secret of success for our 10,000 plus SYS-CON authors. If you are not already a SYS-CON author, create your author page today; it only takes a few minutes. If you already have a blog page, you can easily publish your blog feed at our conference blog pages. For help, please contact us at events (at) sys-con.com.
6) Provide us with your session slides after your presentation
After the conference, we publish stories that summarize your presentation and share it with our readers and conference delegates. These stories typically get thousands of reads, expanding and magnifying your reach around the world.

Lori MacVittie blog: 4.2 million reads http://lorimacvittie.sys-con.com
7) Share your session content on Twitter before and after the conference
Your audience and our delegates are the most active Twitter users in any industry. Tweet about your session often; we share your tweets with over 100,000 of our followers to get your word out.
Last but not least, don't be a "no show" at your scheduled presentation. At every event, one or two speakers will miss their presentation without advance notice. These speakers or others from their companies are not invited to future events as we wish to avoid this situation occurring again.

By Brad Thies Another day, another breach. No wonder security is tied for the top barrier to cloud adoption, according to 2017 research from RightScale, with 25 percent of survey respondents naming it, alongside expertise and expense, as their greatest challenge.
In the face of security concerns, IT executives have mistakenly found comfort in private clouds over public clouds. The RightScale survey found that enterprises run about 75 percent of workloads in the cloud, with 43 percent done in a private clou...Mar. 7, 2018 02:00 PM EST Reads: 1,272 |

By Liz McMillan Digital Transformation (DX) is not a "one-size-fits all" strategy. Each organization needs to develop its own unique, long-term DX plan. It must do so by realizing that we now live in a data-driven age, and that technologies such as Cloud Computing, Big Data, the IoT, Cognitive Computing, and Blockchain are only tools. In her general session at 21st Cloud Expo, Rebecca Wanta explained how the strategy must focus on DX and include a commitment from top management to create great IT jobs, monitor ...Mar. 7, 2018 12:45 PM EST Reads: 2,833 |

By Jason Bloomberg I believe that this may finally be the year that the CIO role ‘crosses the Rubicon,' leaving behind its traditional, IT-focused orientation. But I don't believe that either of the previous predictions of this outcome — fading into oblivion or rising to a business executive level — is correct.
Instead, I think this is the year that we will see the role of the CIO transformed into something altogether different.

Fintech is a lucrative, yet quite saturated market. In order to stay competitive, businesses should keep track of the emerging trends and be able to capitalize on them before their competitors do. Artificial Intelligence is currently among the most promising fintech trends. Leading financial brands such as Capital One, MasterCard, as well as hundreds of startups have set the pace for the adoption of virtual financial advisors. If you want to stay ahead of your competition or simply explore the opportunities for AI in fintech, this article is for you.
In 2018, the shifting emphasis to IoT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR) and automation seem to overshadow cloud; yet, I believe it is just the opposite. A recently published industry survey shows that by 2020, the use of public cloud will grow dramatically. Business goals related to actively adopting AI, IoT and machine learning strategies are prompting IT teams to consider outsourced cloud and cloud experts to move faster than competitors. The formats and pilots incorporating these technologies can be seen across multiple markets and segments including government, retail, ...
We are given a desktop platform with Java 8 or Java 9 installed and seek to find a way to deploy high-performance Java applications that use Java 3D and/or Jogl without having to run an installer. We are subject to the constraint that the applications be signed and deployed so that they can be run in a trusted environment (i.e., outside of the sandbox). Further, we seek to do this in a way that does not depend on bundling a JRE with our applications, as this makes downloads and installations rather long.
Industry after industry is under siege as companies embrace digital transformation (DX) to disrupt existing business models and disintermediate their competitor’s customer relationships. But what do we mean by “Digital Transformation”? The coupling of granular, real-time data (e.g., smartphones, connected devices, smart appliances, wearables, mobile commerce, video surveillance) with modern technologies (e.g., cloud native apps, big data architectures, hyper-converged technologies, artificial intelligence, blockchain) to enhance products, processes, and business-decision making with customer, ...
So data warehousing may not be cool anymore, you say? It’s yesterday’s technology (or 1990’s technology if you’re as old as me) that served yesterday’s business needs. And while it’s true that recent big data and data science technologies, architectures and methodologies seems to have rendered data warehousing to the back burner, it is entirely false that there is not a critical role for the data warehouse and Business Intelligence in digitally transformed organizations.
What's disruptive innovation, and why does it matter to leaders in the C-suite? It's how the savvy non-conformist will target market opportunities. How does this happen, when established companies seem to have the advantage? Creative software developers can quickly apply new technologies and digital business models to capture untapped demand.
The enterprise data storage marketplace is poised to become a battlefield. No longer the quiet backwater of cloud computing services, the focus of this global transition is now going from compute to storage. An overview of recent storage market history is needed to understand why this transition is important.
Before 2007 and the birth of the cloud computing market we are witnessing today, the on-premise model hosted in large local data centers dominated enterprise storage. Key marketplace players were EMC (before the Dell acquisition), NetApp, IBM, HP (before they became HPE) and Hitachi. Co...
