Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP, was first introduced by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991. The initial version HTTP/0.9 was designed to facilitate data transfers between a client and server. The protocol works on a request-response model over a TCP connection, but it’s evolved over the years to include several improvements and advanced features. The latest version is HTTP/2, which has introduced major advancements that prioritize webpage performance and speed.
Digital transformation will come from increased investments in technology. But, at the same time, it will also come from increased scrutiny and commitment to quality of the existing services. To ensure this outcome, companies must be committed to the quality spelled through common acronyms such as SLAs, MTTR and MTTD. While these concepts have been around since the time of gurus such as Edward Deming, they are as critical as ever to ensuring technology meets its goals and sets itself up correctly for the future. SLAs and ITOps can inform each other and bring about mutual modernization.
According to this year’s Internet Trends Report, the cloud is steadily expanding and companies are spending more on these services. Businesses are opting to use these third-party services rather than build their own internal tool because they are often easier and less expensive to deploy. There’s no need to assign IT resources and purchase necessary hardware to deploy a new software solution, so the business unit can sign a contract and start using a solution almost immediately.
The most powerful business benefit for large enterprise organizations migrating to the Cloud is the modernization of their legacy applications.
