• As part of  Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel’s digital strategy to make application programming interfaces “the new default in government,” U.S. foreign assistance payments, nuclear reactors’ daily event reports and a national sex offender registry will soon be released with API’s to allow automatically updated streaming datasets. • The leader of the Chicago cell of a major international hacking and ATM fraud network  has been sentenced by a Federal District Judge to serve two years and six months in federal prison. More here.
• The Federal Bureau of Investigation has  seized three websites alleged to have distributed copies of Android applications in violation of copyright laws. More here.
• A new set of instructions before federal court cases goes out of its way to inform jurors that they may not use Internet-connected mobile devices or social media during trial and deliberations. More here.
• Children’s health and privacy groups asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate online, viral advertising promotions aimed at children. More here.
