The Benefits of Hybrid IT: Expectations vs. Reality
Hybrid IT is today's reality, and while its implementation may seem daunting
at times, more and more organizations are migrating to the cloud. In fact,
according to SolarWinds 2017 IT Trends Index: Portrait of a Hybrid IT
Organization 95 percent of organizations have migrated crucial applications
to the cloud in the past year. As such, it's in every IT professional's best

In 2003, Writer Nick Carr shook up enterprise C-suites around the world with
his seminal article for Harvard Business Review he provocatively titled IT
Doesn't Matter.
Fresh off the dot-com crash but before cloud computing took off, Carr
observed that the belief that IT's strategic value increases in parallel with
its potency and ubiquity was seriously mistaken.
His central thesis: "What makes a resource truly strategic - what gives it
the capacity to be the basis for a sustained competitive advantage - is not
ubiquity but scarcity. You only gain an edge over rivals by having or doing
something that they can't have or do. By now, the core functions of IT - data
storage, data processing, and data transport - have become available and
affordable to all."

Nutanix Enterprise Cloud for DevOps
DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without
both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated
technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections
between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die. A Nutanix

Colocation is a central pillar of modern enterprise infrastructure planning
because it provides greater control, insight, and performance than managed
platforms.
In spite of the inexorable rise of the cloud, most businesses with extensive

Keeping Pace with the Multi-Cloud Movement
A common misconception about the cloud is that one size fits all. Companies
expecting to run all of their operations using one cloud solution or service
must realize that doing so is akin to forcing the totality of their business
functionality into a straightjacket. Unlocking the full potential of the
cloud means embracing the multi-cloud future where businesses use their own
cloud, and/or clouds from different vendors, to support separate functions or
product groups. There is no single cloud solution ideal for all applications,

The margins of cloud products like virtual machines are still in the 50%
range. In essence, price drops are going to be a regular feature for the
foreseeable future. This begets the question - are hosted solutions becoming
irrelevant today?
Boston-based market research firm, 451 Research, has been publishing their
‘Cloud Price Index' for a few years now. The quarterly study looks into the
pricing of various offerings in the cloud market to understand the shifting
dynamics in the public, private and hybrid cloud market. According to Dr.
Owen Rogers from 451 Research, the approach here is similar to how inflation
is calculated - the price of a distributed sample of products from the market
are analyzed periodically to ascertain the rise or drop in the prices of the
various cloud offerings.
