Onalytica analyzed Twitter conversations around the IoT debate to uncover the
most influential brands and individuals driving the conversation.
Intel and Cisco have been named the world's most influential IoT brands,
followed by SYS-CON Media's global IoT event, @ThingsExpo as the world's most
influential IoT media brand.
Onalytica captured data from 56,224 users. The PageRank based methodology
they use to extract influencers on a particular topic (tweets mentioning
#InternetofThings or #IoT in this case) takes into account the number and
quality of contextual references that a user receives.

The Resurgence of AI, ML, and DL
We have been seeing a sudden rise in the deployment of Artificial
Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL). It looks
like the long “AI winter” is finally over.
According to IDC, AI-related hardware, software and services business will
jump from $8B this year to $47B by 2020. I have also read comments like,
“AI is like the Internet in the mid 1990s and it will be pervasive this
time”. According to Andrew Ng, chief scientist at Baidu, “AI is the new
electricity. Just as 100 years ago electricity transformed industry after
industry, AI will now do the same.” Peter Lee, co-head at Microsoft
Research said, “Sales teams are using neural nets to recommend which
prospects to contact next or what kind of products to recommend.” IBM

When call centers first came about in the 1960s, they were built over PBX systems. As more organizations try to determine where best to deploy their limited budgets to support data and analytics initiatives, they realize a need to ascertain the financial value of their data and analytics – which means basic economic concepts are coming into play. While many of you probably took an economics class in college not too long ago, some more “seasoned” readers may be rusty.
I love the simplicity of the data science concepts as taught by the book “Moneyball.” Everyone wants to jump right into the real meaty, highly technical data science books. But I recommend to my students to start with the book “Moneyball.” The book does a great job of making the power of data science come to life (and the movie doesn’t count, as my wife saw it and “Brad Pitt is so cute!” was her only takeaway…ugh). 
How valuable would it be to know everything about your customer’s interactions with your competition? Creating a 360-degree customer view is considered the holy grail of customer intelligence, and you can create it, today.

You can call me bias, or out of touch, but over the past two years, I’ve been reading articles and blogs about how Big Data is going away, dying, or already dead. So what changed?
Is Big Data falling into Gartner’s dreaded trough of disillusionment? Did someone discover that predictive analytics could have a butterfly effect and change the course of history and hence, we should abandon these voodoo analytics practices? Did we figure out that we actually don’t have enough data to call it “Big” data? Did we already finish analyzing all the data and we’re all done? Or… are the people calling it ...
As good Venn diagrams always show it's the intersection areas that offer the sweet spot for trends and markets, and an especially potent one is the intersection of Cloud computing, with the blockchain and also digital identity, particularly when considered within contexts such as Digital Democracy.
Given the diversity of each field alone there are multiple perspectives to this, more the start of a conversation rather than a definitive design.
The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound effect on the world, and what should we expect to see over the next couple of years.
