WESTBURY, N.Y., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- IRN Payment Systems (IRN), a leader in the credit card processing industry, announced a revolutionary program designed to provide charitable organizations with a steady stream of donations. Named "The Hope Process," the program enables IRN's customers to donate to charities based on a percentage of their credit card processing fees that would normally be collected by IRN as profit. "As a father of an Autistic child, I learned the importance of charitable giving," said Dino Sgueglia President and Founder of IRN Payment Systems. "I wanted to be directly involved in supporting those with Autism, so I created Danny's Wish, an organization named after my son that was established to provide funds for Autistic services and charities. However, in creating Danny's Wish, I realized the difficulties all charities have in maintaining ... (more)

Adobe Flash on the Road to Nowhere

This Wednesday was probably the first day on the (potentially long) path to Adobe Flash decline: the most popular video site out there – YouTube – started offering videos in Flash-less mode for browsers which support HTML 5 and h.264 video codec. This means that today the option is available for Chrome and Safari. Then at some point they will likely add the Ogg codec and support Firefox, or help Firefox get native h.264 codec support. The whole story of Flash in retrospect is going to be an interesting one. Adobe had 95-98% penetration in PC market for years and could not expand its adoption beyond video. They tried: kept improving the tools, added offline, even tried open-sourcing it, and getting to the mobile market –... (more)

2013 Reading in Review

Below the image, I have pulled in the more in depth reviews of the books in descending order based on my star ratings. .gr_custom_container_1388710762 { /* customize your Goodreads widget container here*/ border: 0px solid gray; border-radius:10px; padding: 10px 5px 10px 5px; background-color: #ffffff; color: #000000; } .gr_custom_header_1388710762 { /* customize your Goodreads header here*/ border-bottom: 1px solid gray; width: 100%; margin-bottom: 5px; text-align: center; font-size... Contrary Opinion: CRM is a Hoax

I have a pet peeve concerning two things I’ve been meaning to write about lately, namely CRM and multi-tenancy. I recently read an excellent article referencing both concepts and thought itmight be a good stepping stone to a quick blog post. In his article Don’t Get Conned – The many disguises worn by software-as-a-service, Matt Wallach discusses CRM software and the concept of SaaS multi-tenancy. Matt’s business is life sciences, and he discusses the state of CRM software for his industry. His argument is along the lines of “be wary of on-premise wolves in SaaS sheep clothing”. The wolves, in this case, areon-premise CRM vendors who simply throw servers over a wall and call it a SaaSday. The sheep (aka the good guys) are those genuine SaaS vendors riding a multi-tenant architecture. He then proceeds to define what multi-tenancy means using the well-known “neighbor... (more)
