In the run-up to the next Cloud Expo, 7th Cloud Expo (November 1–4, 2010)
being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley, it's time
to give my earlier list a complete overhaul.
Here, accordingly, is an expanded list of the most active players in the
Cloud Ecosystem.
I have increased it from the 'mere' 150 I identified back in January of this
year, to 250, testimony – as if any were needed! – to the fierce and
continuing growth of the "Elastic IT" paradigm throughout the world of
enterprise computing.

Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with Peter Coffee, of eWeek fame.

Every generation, it seems, sports its own business transformation du jour. From Business Process Reengineering (BPR) to the Quality Movement to eBusiness to name a few, organizations large and small have sought to improve their profits, lower their costs, and keep their customers happy by shaking up the way they do things.
While each of these business transformation fads delivered value in its time, in the wisdom of hindsight they all ran up against the same basic challenge: inflexibility.
A steel bar is resistant to stress and is capable of maintaining its form while bearing large loads. While steel is also known as one of the world's strongest metal's (Titanium, Tungsten and Iconel round out the top four), it is also susceptible to shearing and completely breaking. A rubber brick, on the other hand, will bend easily under even small loads, but it's extremely difficult to snap or break. Moreover, once the load is removed from the rubber, its flexibility returns it to its original form. This is how the rubber brick displays resiliency
The reason I believe digital transformation is not only more than a fad, but is actually a life-or-death imperative for every business and IT executive on the planet is simple: there will be no place for an “industrial enterprise” in a digital world.

As good Venn diagrams always show it's the intersection areas that offer the sweet spot for trends and markets, and an especially potent one is the intersection of Cloud computing, with the blockchain and also digital identity, particularly when considered within contexts such as Digital Democracy.
Given the diversity of each field alone there are multiple perspectives to this, more the start of a conversation rather than a definitive design.
Digital transformation initiatives both increase revenue and decrease expenses according to our upcoming study titled Work AHEAD 2016 by Cognizant's Center for the Future of Work. For this study we surveyed over 2,000 executives across 18 countries.
