Periodic Table of DevOps v.2 - Hot or Not
By Necco Ceresani
Since the launch of The XebiaLabs Periodic Table of DevOps Tools in July of last year we have seen an outpouring of excitement, appreciation, tool submissions and shares. When first creating this tool we thought it was going to be a fun way to look at the DevOps world, in an aesthetically pleasing way. Little did we know it would define the way people look at at the modern DevOps landscape.
DevOps Hot or Not
Having seen hundreds of submissions through our “Add a Tool” button, when we began thinking of v.2 of The XebiaLabs Periodic Table of DevOps Tools, our immediate priority was to give people a voice into which tools should be included. What followed has been an exercise in creativity, communication and fun. I am excited to present our community driven Hot or Not DevOps tools game.
Yes, it is indeed exactly what it looks like. You may remember the concept from a certain social network movie. But, we’ve made some pretty cool adaptations and improvements. First and foremost this tool was built to give the DevOps community a chance to vote for the hottest tools in each category from The XebiaLabs Periodic Table of DevOps Tools. Each tool is paired at random with another tool in it’s category and the user (that’s you) gets to choose which of the two tools they feel is “hotter”. Users will be able to see the percentage of positive clicks each tool has received as well as the total number of votes cast.
Share Your Favorite Matchups
We’ve tried to keep this game as simple as possible while still building it with the user in mind. Participants are able to share their favorite match-up’s by using the “Share this matchup” button in the middle column. Below are a couple of our favorite matchups for you to enjoy. Share your favorites with us on twitter @XebiaLabs.
We created Hot or Not to give the community a voice in which tools we use for version 2 of The XebiaLabs Periodic Table of DevOps. We hope your enjoy our game, boost your favorite scores and share the best matchups with your friends. Happy Hot or Not, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
