Digital Commerce and Agility By @FerhatSF | @CloudExpo #Cloud #BigData

Fujitsu and Grid Dynamics enable faster deployments of scalable E-Commerce platform on hybrid cloud infrastructure

Fujitsu and Grid Dynamics have teamed up to create the Cloud Commerce Platform to empower retailers with best-of-breed hardware, software and services for faster digital innovation.

Retailers are under immense pressure to innovate faster. Working with them over the years, we have come to intimately understand their challenges. With the explosion of digital touch points and the expectation of a unified experience throughout a shopper's journey across the channels, retailers must innovate at an unprecedented pace while performing flawlessly even as traffic peaks.

To maintain their edge, retailers must experiment with new ideas by deploying new apps and features 24/7. Industry leaders, like Amazon, Staples, Walmart and Zappos are already developing features faster than web startups do. However, most retailers are still hampered by the complexity of Information Technology (IT) systems and processes that can hold back innovation by months or even years.

Challenges that hamper agile transformation are numerous:

  • Fragile legacy systems that are not designed for rapid change
  • Unexpected outages that cripple revenue under peak workloads and traffic
  • Insufficient infrastructure that does not scale with the needs of the business
  • Misconfigurations caused by manual changes in application environments
  • Inefficient communication between development, security, and operation teams

Increasingly, accelerating digital innovation requires retailers to look beyond their own walls to gain the infrastructure flexibility needed to support agility behind new software projects.

Fujitsu and Grid Dynamics have teamed up to create the Cloud Commerce Platform to empower retailers with best-of-breed hardware, software and services for faster digital innovation. The solution integrates the Oracle Commerce Platform, Amazon Web Services, Fujitsu M10 servers and the award-winning Grid Dynamics Tonomi autonomic application management into a single solution to deliver optimal performance, flexibility and convenience. The retailers gain the agility needed to quickly experiment, develop, test and release new digital services for always-relevant consumer experiences. Also improved are availability, uptime and performance with a highly-scalable on-demand infrastructure, while reducing errors with application automation.

Why is this important to retailers? The new innovative solution:

  • Empowers retailers to rapidly develop, automatically test and release new digital services and features, delivering always-relevant experiences to consumers
  • Provides an end-to-end solution for digital retail, from development to production
  • Improves availability, performance and uptime with record-breaking Fujitsu M10 Server hardware
  • Reduces risk of change through application automation and highly scalable, on-demand infrastructure

By working together, and combining these specialized technologies in one package as a subscription service for the first time, Fujitsu and Grid Dynamics are putting retailers in the driver's seat on day one, and eliminating integration headaches, time and costs inherent with acquiring infrastructure and hiring new DevOps teams.

Connect with Connected Retail. It's an exciting new world for retailers and the future of digital innovation looks promising.  Find more details on the new Cloud Commerce Platform here. Come test drive the new solution live at Retail's BIG Show 2016: NRF 2016 17-19 January, Jacob Javits Center, NYC, in the Fujitsu booth (#3805).

Automating AWS environments is important for all businesses as it simplifies creation and setup of cloud resources, facilitates otherwise complex processes, and streamlines management. The benefits of automation are clear: accelerate execution, reduce human error and unwanted consequences, and increase the enterprise’s ability to rapidly adapt, all while reducing the overall cost of IT operations. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Patrick McClory, Director of Automation and DevOps at Datapipe...
The Internet of Things has the potential to disrupt all industries, not just consumer, as businesses leverage the new insights and capabilities enabled by new devices / things, automation, integration and analytics, etc., to transform how they do business. One industry ripe for disruption is higher education. Colleges and universities are being challenged with serving more students and at the same time ensuring successful student outcomes. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Chris Witeck, Principa...
For it to be SOA – let alone SOA done right – we need to pin down just what "SOA done wrong" might be. First-generation SOA with Web Services and ESBs, perhaps? But then there's second-generation, REST-based SOA. More lightweight and cloud-friendly, but many REST-based SOA practices predate the microservices wave. Today, microservices and containers go hand in hand – only the details of "container-oriented architecture" are largely on the drawing board – and are not likely to look much like S...
At year-end, we often consider where we’ve fallen short over the last twelve months – and how we can do better over the next twelve. For IT leaders, DevOps is likely to be a primary concern for 2016. As application awesomeness becomes more important to the business, IT must get great code into production faster. DevOps success is thus imperative – especially if you’re competing against digital-first market disrupters. DevOps, though, isn’t just about engineering better processes. It’s also abou...

As the Internet of Things becomes more capable, moving from an initial ad hoc bundle of chaos to an optimized set of interconnected assets, we will need to ensure it performs and is reliable. But this means the tools measuring the performance and reliability of the IoT will also need to mature as the need for timely, understandable, quality, business-critical information becomes paramount. Sensors that are malfunctioning, devices that are offline, data that’s little more than noise can all scut...

Developing software for the Internet of Things (IoT) comes with its own set of challenges. Security, privacy, and unified standards are a few key issues. In addition, each IoT product is comprised of (at least) three separate application components: the software embedded in the device, the backend service, and the mobile application for the end user’s controls. Each component is developed by a different team, using different technologies and practices, and deployed to a different stack/target – ...
