Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team
at Google.
Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web
and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices.
Nearly every company today working on the IoT comes up with the same basic
solution: use my server and you'll be fine.
But if we really believe there will be trillions of these devices, that just
can't scale. We need a system that is open a scalable and by using the URL as
a basic building block, we open this up and get the same resilience that the
web enjoys.
With millions of smart devices coming in the near future, are we really going
to have millions of apps? People are already "app-fatigued." There will
always be room for hero-apps like snapchat but do I really want an app for my
smart suitcase? Tha... (more)

TokBox, a Telefónica Digital company, released the results of global survey
of 1,161 participants regarding developer community attitudes towards WebRTC.
The report, which found rapidly emerging interest from larger organizations
(1,000+ employees), also found rapid WebRTC adoption amongst smaller
companies (fewer than 500 employees) where more than one in four (27.1%)
developers say WebRTC is already critical to their work.

In the run-up to the next Cloud Expo, 7th Cloud Expo (November 1–4, 2010)
being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley, it's time
to give my earlier list a complete overhaul.
Here, accordingly, is an expanded list of the most active players in the
Cloud Ecosystem.
I have increased it from the 'mere' 150 I identified back in January of this
year, to 250, testimony – as if any were needed! – to the fierce and
continuing growth of the "Elastic IT" paradigm throughout the world of
enterprise computing.

@ThingsExpo Stories By Liz McMillan "We announced CryptoScript, it's a new way of programming a hardware security module, which technically requires standard APIs and very specific knowledge. With CryptoScript we hope to change that a bit," explained Johannes Lintzen, Vice President of Sales at Utimaco, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 17th Cloud Expo, held November 3-5, 2015, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. Dec. 19, 2015 11:00 AM EST Reads: 123 | By Pat Romanski WebRTC services have already permeated corporate communications in the form of videoconferencing solutions. However, WebRTC has the potential of going beyond and catalyzing a new class of services providing more than calls with capabilities such as mass-scale real-time media broadcasting, enriched and augmented video, person-to-machine and machine-to-machine communications.
In his session at @ThingsExpo, Luis Lopez, CEO of Kurento, introduced the technologies required for implementing these ideas and some early experiments performed in the Kurento open source software community in areas such...
