Nanobots, Wearables, and Other IoT Innovations that Explode with Healthcare
Data
By Elle Wood
Data has changed our world.. From our cars, homes, pets, and even our own
bodies, data has opened our eyes to behavior patterns and allowed us to catch
on to small issues before they become bigger problems. This phenomenon has
made huge waves in the healthcare industry, including reducing operational
costs, improving independent living, and increasing early detection of
diseases. With the wildfire set by the Internet of Things, healthcare data
from wearables and other mHealth devices are helping patients take a more
informed and active role in their healthcare, and give doctors more insight
into diagnosis and treatment plans.
According to Employee Benefit Research Institute, more than one-fourth of the
US population use wearables, wireless medical devices, and apps to manag... (more)
Internet of Things (IoT)
Every physical object or “thing” that can be embedded with sensors will
be embedded with sensors. Whether you call it the Internet of Things, the
Internet of Everything, M2M, a smarter planet, the Industrial Internet or
something else, the trend is clear. With so much activity and interest, it is
unfortunate that a de facto communications standard has not emerged. However,
there is progress (or managed conflict) in the right direction.
The AllSeen Alliance and the Open Interconnect Consortium are just two of the
major organizations vying for IoT superiori... (more)

Strategies for IoT Software Development and Delivery
In the world of IoT, as software simplifies our lives, it in turn becomes a
lot more complex.
Imagine the following scenario:
Your car recognizes you as you enter the car. It also knows that today is
Friday and that it is 6 pm. After consulting with your iPhone calendar, the
car knows that on Fridays you always go swimming at Hotel Nikko in downtown
San Francisco. It then checks the real-time traffic information and
automatically recommends the best route to the Hotel.
After swimming, you are about to head home. But the smart r... (more)

@CloudExpo Stories By Liz McMillan There are many considerations when moving applications from on-premise to cloud. It is critical to understand the benefits and also challenges of this migration. A successful migration will result in lower Total Cost of Ownership, yet offer the same or higher level of robustness. Migration to cloud shifts computing resources from your data center, which can yield significant advantages provided that the cloud vendor an offer enterprise-grade quality for your application. Dec. 22, 2015 02:45 PM EST Reads: 316 | By Elizabeth White Clearly the way forward is to move to cloud be it bare metal, VMs or containers. One aspect of the current public clouds that is slowing this cloud migration is cloud lock-in. Every cloud vendor is trying to make it very difficult to move out once a customer has chosen their cloud.
