"Production is where performance matters most, as it directly impacts our end
users and ultimately decides whether our software will be successful or not.
Efforts to create test conditions and environments exactly like Production
will always fall short; nothing compares to production!"
These were the opening lines of my invitation encouraging performance
practitioners to apply for the recent WOPR24 (Workshop on Performance and
Reliability). Thirteen performance gurus answered the call and contributed to
the event by providing their experience reports and participating in the
workshops. Special thanks to organizers Eric Proegler and Mais Tawfik! My key
takeaway of WOPR24 is that Performance Engineering as we know it is changing,
turning away from traditional load testing and toward production and
Continuous Integration, with performance the link between Dev and Ops in... (more)

2016 - The Year of Insourcing?
By Steve Thair
A lot has been written recently about DevOps and outsourcing. Some say it
will kill outsourcing, others are not so sure. Our view at DevOpsGuys is that

“inside” and “outside” the organization.
For many organizations bringing everything back in-house probably isn’t
financially or logistically viable, at least in the short to medium term –
they would struggle to attract the right people... (more)

@CloudExpo Stories By Ian Khan Just over a week ago I received a long and loud sustained applause for a presentation I delivered at this year’s Cloud Expo in Santa Clara. I was extremely pleased with the turnout and had some very good conversations with many of the attendees. Over the next few days I had many more meaningful conversations and was not only happy with the results but also learned a few new things. Here is everything I learned in those three days distilled into three short points. It won’t be long before we experience bottlenecks, as IoT traffic peaks during rush hours. Organizations that are unprepared will find themselves by the side of the road unable to cross back into the fast lane. As billions of new devices begin to communicate and exchange data – will your infrastructure be scalable enough to handle this new interconnected world? Dec. 8, 2015 07:30 PM EST Reads: 280 | By Elizabeth White The broad selection of hardware, the rapid evolution of operating systems and the time-to-market for mobile apps has been so rapid that new challenges for developers and engineers arise every day.
