Personas That Drive Our Big Data Needs | @BigDataExpo #BigData #Microservices

Three Personas That Drive Our Big Data (Or Any Data) Needs I am not a data scientist or an expert in knowing how to build candlestick charts from historical stock prices. I am however a data enthusiast and it fascinates me when I hear people talk about Big Data, like they invented it. Sorry, no offense meant, but really how did we just jump to Big Data without even creating an understanding about any kind of data? Information in any shape, form or face is a brilliant resource. We work with information every day and, if you look at it, nothing runs without information. Every busin... (more)

Seven Extreme Customer Centricity Tips for Digital Transformation By @TheEbizWizard | @CloudExpo #Cloud

One of the most important tenets of digital transformation is that it's customer-driven. In fact, the only reason technology is involved at all is because today's customers demand technology-based interactions with the companies they do business with. It's no surprise, therefore, that we at Intellyx agree with Patrick Maes, CTO, ANZ Bank, when he said, "the fundamental element in digital transformation is extreme customer centricity." So true - but note the insightful twist that Maes added to the customer-driven digital mantra: extreme. In the context of digital transformation, ... (more)

DevOps Summit Was a Terrific Event! | @DevOpsSummit #DevOps #BigData #IoT #Microservices

DevOps Summit at Cloud Expo 2014 Silicon Valley was a terrific event for us. The Qubell booth was crowded on all three days. We ran demos every 30 minutes with folks lining up to get a seat and usually standing around. It was great to meet and talk to over 500 people! My keynote was well received and so was Stan's joint presentation with RingCentral on Devops for BigData. I also participated in two Power Panels - ‘Women in Technology' and ‘Why DevOps Is Even More Important than You Think,' both featuring brilliant colleagues and moderators and it was a blast to be a part of. The... (more)

@CloudExpo Stories
Discussions of cloud computing have evolved in recent years from a focus on specific types of cloud, to a world of hybrid cloud, and to a world dominated by the APIs that make today's multi-cloud environments and hybrid clouds possible. In this Power Panel at 17th Cloud Expo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed the importance of customers being able to use the specific technologies they need, through environments and ecosystems that expose their APIs to make true ...

We are rapidly moving to a brave new world of interconnected smart homes, cars, offices and factories known as the Internet of Things (IoT). Sensors and monitoring devices will touch every part of our lives. Let's take a closer look at the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things is a worldwide network of objects and devices connected to the Internet. They are electronics, sensors, software and more. These objects connect to the Internet and can be controlled remotely via apps and programs. ...
In today's enterprise, digital transformation represents organizational change even more so than technology change, as customer preferences and behavior drive end-to-end transformation across lines of business as well as IT. To capitalize on the ubiquitous disruption driving this transformation, companies must be able to innovate at an increasingly rapid pace. Traditional approaches for driving innovation are now woefully inadequate for keeping up with the breadth of disruption and change facin...
Being heavily entrenched in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technology markets, I often have the opportunity to speak with customers, partners, and analysts about sensor-to-server communication and what technology advances are on the horizon that will benefit the industry. A few of the hot buttons right now are big data and predictive analytics. The idea of comparing data in motion (at the sensor level) to data at rest (in a big data server warehouse) wit...
Growth hacking is common for startups to make unheard-of progress in building their business. Career Hacks can help Geek Girls and those who support them (yes, that's you too, Dad!) to excel in this typically male-dominated world. Developing software for the Internet of Things (IoT) comes with its own set of challenges. Security, privacy, and unified standards are a few key issues. In addition, each IoT product is comprised of (at least) three separate application components: the software embedded in the device, the back-end service, and the mobile application for the end user’s controls. Each component is developed by a different team, using different technologies and practices, and deployed to a different stack/target –...

Applications, compute, storage and security have moved to the cloud. Even so, enterprises are still saddled with historical wide area networks that connect branches and data centers to one another, but do little to help with cloud services. The network has become the weakest link. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Ajit Mayya, VP of Engineering and co-founder of VeloCloud, will share a brief history of cloud services and discuss why the cloud is the network. He will talk about the problems cr...
