Three Containers Walked into the Cloud... The Past, Present and Future of
Container Deployment
Unbeknownst to some, organizations have run infrastructure containers in
production for years, reaping benefits on the operational end but not yet
providing value for developers. When Docker catapulted containers into
mainstream adoption, another type of container emerged - one that's
enormously popular for developers, but not quite ready for Ops. It's time to
close the gap between the promise that Devs see in containers and the
operational challenges of actually running them in production.
In his session at DevOps Summit, Bryan Cantrill, CTO at Joyent, will
demonstrate a third path: containers on multi-tenant bare metal that
maximizes performance, security, and networking connectivity.

Reboot Your Leadership for DevOps Success: Why Culture Trumps Tech in the
DevOps Stakes
Culture is the most important ingredient of DevOps. The challenge for most
organizations is defining and communicating a vision of beneficial DevOps
culture for their organizations, and then facilitating the changes needed to
achieve that. Often this comes down to an ability to provide true leadership.

Can call centers hang up the phones for good?
Intuitive Solutions did.
WebRTC enabled this contact center provider to eliminate antiquated telephony
and desktop phone infrastructure with a pure web-based solution, allowing
them to expand beyond brick-and-mortar confines to a home-based agent model.
It also ensured scalability and better service for customers, including MUY!

@CloudExpo Stories By Elizabeth White Modern Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) fundamentally breaks most traditional security tools and approaches. The number of environments used by enterprises is exploding beyond traditional data centers and virtualization. Workloads are becoming elastic with shorter lifespans. Mergers and acquisitions are accelerating. All this makes traditional network and perimeter centric security less scalable, less effective and less efficient.
In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Sami Laine, Principal Tech... Oct. 19, 2015 12:00 AM EDT Reads: 258 | By Carmen Gonzalez As a CIO, are your direct reports IT managers or are they IT leaders? The hard truth is that many IT managers have risen through the ranks based on their technical skills, not their leadership ability. Many are unable to effectively engage and inspire, creating forward momentum in the direction of desired change. Renowned for its approach to leadership and emphasis on their people, organizations increasingly look to our military for insight into these challenges. A lot of the real developments in the past year have been in things like the data channel, which will enable a whole new type of application," explained Peter Dunkley, Technical Director at Acision, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @ThingsExpo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. As with any security solutions, security approaches that work for developers, operations personnel and security professionals is a requirement. In his session at @DevOpsSummit, Kevin Gilpin, CTO and Co-Founder of Conjur, will discuss various security considerations for container-based infrastructure and related DevOps workflows. Oct. 18, 2015 07:00 PM EDT Reads: 419 | By Carmen Gonzalez Containers have changed the mind of IT in DevOps. They enable developers to work with dev, test, stage and production environments identically. Containers provide the right abstraction for microservices and many cloud platforms have integrated them into deployment pipelines. DevOps and Containers together help companies to achieve their business goals faster and more effectively. Oct. 18, 2015 04:30 PM EDT Reads: 246 | By Yeshim Deniz Overgrown applications have given way to modular applications, driven by the need to break larger problems into smaller problems. Similarly large monolithic development processes have been forced to be broken into smaller agile development cycles. Looking at trends in software development, microservices architectures meet the same demands.
Additional benefits of microservices architectures are compartmentalization and a limited impact of service failure versus a complete software malfunction.... Oct. 18, 2015 03:30 PM EDT Reads: 482 | By Liz McMillan Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move away from monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies will continue to be developed at different speeds.
How to handle the dependencies between these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the "canoncial problem"...
