WSM International today announced an industry-first, fixed fee server migration service for all like-to-like server migrations to - or from - any server or cloud provider.
The Server Image Migration Service (called SIMS) includes source environment and tool assessment, software license fees, creation, transfer and restore of the server image from source to destination, and testing instructions for customers to validate the image restore. The simple Service Level Agreement (SLA) also provides for optional WSM professional services in cases where transformation, version incompatibilities, application refactoring, delta data syncs or other technical tasks are needed to ensure a seamless, secure and effective migration.

"WSM has successfully completed over 250,000 server and application migrations since 2003, so we know best practices for almost every conceivable migration case. This experience enables us to evaluate and choose the right automated migration software for any customer environment, and thus offer an industry-first flat fee migration service pricing model," said Ryan Pelerin, founding partner and chief operating officer, WSM. "We view our SIMS offering as the next step in making server migrations simpler for our customers with the convenience of set pricing to aid budget planning combined with hassle-free service delivery and migration expertise, especially attractive for large-scale migrations and enterprise cloud adoption."
How it Works
The customer simply needs to know the number of servers and operating system (OS) versions for migration, and the primary data service, workload or application stack on each server. From there, WSM migration analysts assess the infrastructure and applications to select the best fit migration software among an expansive suite of WSM-vetted commercial, as well as proprietary WSM migration tools. The image creation, transfer and restore occurs without disruption to the customer's ongoing operations, and is tested thoroughly by the customer to ensure the image restore succeeded at the new destination prior to going into production.
"We're simplifying the migration of servers and workloads like never before - with an easy, intuitive sign-up process and clear service level agreements and descriptions of work to be performed," said Kenan Rappuchi, partner and vice president for strategic business development, WSM. "With a no-fail migration guarantee, volume discounts for larger enterprise migrations and a full suite of complementary professional services for security, transformation, disaster recovery (DR) and DevOps automation, we aim to make enterprise cloud adoption attainable and executable for any organization of any size, running literally any application stack."
About WSM International
WSM International (WSM) created the specialized data migration services segment in 2003, and today is recognized as the largest server and cloud migration service provider in the industry. WSM is the only service provider to guarantee a functionally flawless migration among all cloud, virtual and physical hosting environments, on all operating systems and versions, and virtually any type of application, workload or data asset.
In addition to its unrivaled migration experience, WSM offers a full spectrum of cloud adoption and transformation solutions including DevOps, security, compliance and cloud engineering services, as well as application, workload and infrastructure consulting, architecture, development, management and maintenance for just about every type of customer and industry - from small to midsize businesses and institutions to Fortune 100 global enterprises.

Now – that Node.js 4.0.0 was officially released – you may wonder what it delivers to you and if you should upgrade right away, or not. This post covers the most important changes you need to know, and some key implications you may have to take into account in making your decision.
The last few months were really exciting for the Node.js community.
At the start of this year Joyent Inc. handed over the project to the community around io.js, a fork of Node.js. Soon after that, it was decided that there should be only one version that incorporates all current features of io.js and Node.js in th...
A looking glass is a magical lens or portal through which things can be seen that are otherwise invisible. This is a perfect metaphor for the increasing challenge faced by businesses to find value hidden in the data they generate as well as data that they have access to. Value nuggets in data are often obscured by large volumes of data (“noise”, if you will). The larger the data sets, the more obscured the value nuggets are. A theoretical looking glass capable of discerning the signal from the noise will find value nuggets that enable precise and timely reaction to situations, as well as proac...
In my research on mobile commerce and mobile consumers' behaviors this year, the need to personalize a user's mobile/digital experiences always comes up as a top priority. Everyone wants an experience that is relevant. However, as I pondered these studies, it occurred to me that personalization is only a part of the solution. If you received an SMS message on your smartphone about a shoe sales (your favorite brand and style), that ended yesterday, at a location hundreds of miles away, the personalization would be without value. Yes, it is your preferred brand and style, but not in your locat...
Yesterday I attended a session in Palo Alto on the subject of Data Refinery and the speaker was Will Gorman of Pentaho. I did not realize that Pentaho was acquired by Hitachi Data Systems couple of months ago. The terms “data lake” was coined by James Dixon of Pentaho. I wrote a blog on this subject last year. As soon as the term started to appear in the data lexicon, other interesting terms such as “data swamp” appeared.
Today, there is countless data collected and analyzed by companies. Just a few years ago, that data was useless, now data is collected and used to provide answers and solve problems.
As big data use cases continue to evolve, there will be an increasing number of business missions that will be served by new approaches to data. With the adoption of an enterprise data hub, developers are finding new agility to create services and applications, as well as decision-making that leads to market dominating strategies. According to Cognitio's co-founder and partner Bob Gourley, this adoption will lea...
Many of the early examples tend to highlight smart cities or home automation. For most enterprises, however, the ability to connect and integrate everything together can solve current problems and open up new opportunities.
Most enterprises have complex combinations of legacy systems, SaaS services, thousands of devices, multiple locations and unending new requirements from business leaders looking to expand revenues or cut costs. Having the ability to integrate and connect all these systems, services, people and things into automated workflows can make a lot of sense.
Just as companies now communicate with their consumers and prospects in much different ways -- with higher emphasis on social interactions -- so too the IT industry has abruptly changed.
According to a survey published by Gallup, just over 13 percent of employees globally are actually "involved in, enthusiastic about and committed to their work and workplace." The rest of the global workforce is not just indifferent - a good chunk of them are also "actively disengaged" or "potentially hostile". This is quite concerning given that nearly 71 percentage of employees regard engagement as critical to achieving organizational success.

Monetizing the cloud is fast becoming a hot area of interest for everyone. Rightfully so, perhaps because we have come along in our evolution as cloud technologists and are now able to see more than just being able to make things work on the cloud. It’s time now to derive maximum value from the cloud and the need for any vendor is to generate revenue. What are the rules of monetization and how do we even get started? Let’s look at three things that essentially make up a monetization framework.
