Containerization and microservices are the hottest trends in the world of distributed computing. They are revolutionizing the way software is designed, developed and deployed. The container phenomenon is impacting architects, developers and system administrators. From large cloud providers to enterprises to startups, every player in the ecosystem is impacted by the container revolution. The rise of containers is driving the adoption of microservices. Emerging technologies like Docker, rkt, LXD, and Hyper-V Containers are making it easy for developers and SysOps professionals to utilize container technology in their microservices architecture.
He will introduce you to Docker and its dynamic ecosystem. You will understand how the microservices architecture is different from current distributed computing models. We will show you how to design, develop and deploy microservices on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. With dedicated sessions for Amazon EC2 Container Services, AWS Lambda, Google Container Engine and Microsoft Service Fabric, this Bootcamp covers the entire spectrum of microservices.
You will get a thorough overview of the orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Mesosphere, Flocker and Docker Swarm. The immersive two-day workshop will provide you with everything you wanted to know about microservices.

Agenda
Day 1
The Shift to Containers and Microservices
This session will introduce the core concepts of containers and microservices. We will discuss the evolution of containers and its impact on web-scale computing. You will understand the value containers deliver in the era of cloud-native and web-scale computing.
Getting Started with Docker
This session introduces Docker and its architecture. You will learn everything from installing Docker and writing a "Hello World" containerized application.
Advanced Docker
This session builds upon the previous one by introducing advanced concepts of Docker such as the tools, registry, storage volumes, and networking. You will learn how to move containers from your development environment to production.
Exploring the Docker Ecosystem
As one of the most popular open source projects, Docker enjoys a vibrant ecosystem. We will explore the tools developed by the broader ecosystem to manage containerized applications. You will understand how the community is driving the container revolution and what Open Container Project (OCP) means to you.
Day 2
A Closer Look at Microservices Architecture
This session will introduce the key concepts of microservices. We will explore the principles of Twelve-Factor Apps in the context of containers and microservices. You will understand the best practices to follow and common pitfalls to avoid when designing composed applications based on microservices. !
Using Kubernetes and Google Container Engine
Google is one of the key contributors of the container ecosystem. We will understand how Kubernetes helps in deploying and managing microservices. The concepts will be extended to Google Container Engine (GKE), a hosted microservices platform managed by Google.
Designing Microservices with AWS
AWS has two services aligned with the microservices paradigm - AWS Lambda and Amazon EC2 Container Service. We will explore both these services through real-world scenarios.
Microservices on Microsoft Azure
Microsoft invested heavily in containers and microservices. We will explore the concepts of Microsoft Service Fabric, Hyper-V Containers and deploying microservices on Azure.

The @DevOpsSummit at Cloud Expo - to be held November 3-5, 2015, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California - will expand the DevOps community, enable a wide sharing of knowledge, and educate delegates and technology providers alike. Recent research has shown that DevOps dramatically reduces development time, the amount of enterprise IT professionals put out fires, and support time generally. Time spent on infrastructure development is significantly increased, and DevOps practitioners report more software releases and higher quality.

DevOps Summit Power Panel | Balancing the Three Pillars of DevOps
In this @DevOpsSummit Power Panel - moderated by Andi Mann (founder of @Sageable) - Shannon Williams, co-founder of Rancher Labs; Haseeb Budhani, co-founder and CEO of Soha; and Dalibor Siroky, Director and co-founder atPlutora; discussed how to balance these three pillars of DevOps, where to focus attention (and resources), where organizations might slip up with the wrong focus, how to manage change and risk in all three areas, what is possible and what is not, where to start, and especially how new structures, processes, and technologies can help drive a new DevOps culture.
Microservices & IoT Power Panel at @DevOpsSummit
Buzzword Alert: Microservices and IoT at a DevOps conference? What could possibly go wrong?
In this Power Panel at @DevOpsSummit, moderated by Jason Bloomberg, president of Intellyx, panelists Roberto Medrano, Executive Vice President at Akana; Lori MacVittie, Evangelist for F5 Networks; and Troy Topnik, ActiveState's Technical Product Manager; and Otis Gospodnetić, founder of Sematext; peeled away the buzz and discuss the important architectural principles behind implementing IoT solutions for the enterprise. As remote IoT devices and sensors become increasingly intelligent, they become part of our distributed cloud environment, and we must architect and code accordingly. At the very least, you'll have no problem filling in your buzzword bingo cards.

Containers & Microservices Expo To Be Colocated with @DevOpsSummit Silicon Valley, November 3-5, 2015 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA
SYS-CON Events announced on June 9, 2015 at the Javits Center that the 2nd "Containers & Microservices Conference" will take place November 3-5, 2015, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, and the "Third Containers & Microservices Conference" will take place June 7-9, 2016, at Javits Center in New York City.
Containers and microservices have become topics of intense interest throughout the cloud developer and enterprise IT communities.
Microservices focuses on the business and technology of the software architecture design pattern, in which complex applications are composed of small, independent processes communicating with each other using language-agnostic APIs.
Containers are not being considered for the first time by the cloud community, but a current era of re-consideration has pushed them to the top of the cloud agenda.
Rather than just stuff an OS into a container, for example, developers and deployers should consider a spectrum of microservices and what they can do.
New York and Silicon Valley Sponsors and Exhibitors
During our last New York and Silicon Valley events, over 12,000 (audited) delegates registered and participated in the world's largest DevOps, Containers, and Microservices show, colocated with Cloud Expo. In recent years, we’ve watched mobile, cloud technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) enable increased connectivity for every network and every industry, ranging from connected cars to commercial vehicles and fleet management to smart cities to data centers. At MWC, it was clear that professionals in these areas are continuing to make strides in their fields. Below are a few of the major developments we noticed and look forward to hearing more as 2015 progresses.
I’ve been thinking a bit about microservices (μServices) recently. My immediate reaction is to think: “Isn’t this just yet another new term for the same stuff, Web Services->SOA->APIs->Microservices?” Followed shortly by the thought, “well yes it is, but there are some important differences/distinguishing factors.”
Microservices is an evolutionary paradigm born out of the need for simplicity (i.e., get away from the ESB) and alignment with agile (think DevOps) and scalable (think Containerization) development and deployment architectures. Martin Fowler and James Lewis defined nine core charac...
