PaaS has been such a great innovation for developers. They can develop and deploy applications from their desktop to the cloud, all in a consistent environment. They can deploy to production themselves, bypassing the IT middleman and speeding up the application delivery process. And they can develop in any language they want, without limitations. Developers have it made! But what about IT?
Does PaaS help them in any way or is it just another system for them to manage? Is this an unnecessary complication or does it help them? Why do they need PaaS?
NoSQL databases are highly scalable and capable of solving a wide range of data problems, which make them great for supporting complex, unpredictable, and large volumes of data. While still considered relatively young in the enterprise software market--the current industry adoption is estimated at 20%--deployments can potentially double in 2017. Today we speak of digital transformation, representing customer-driven technology choices upending traditional business models and associated processes. But perhaps this period is better thought of as the big data revolution, or the age of cloud computing, or maybe the rise of the Internet of Things, or my personal favorite, The Agile Architecture Revolution. 
The time of year that crystal balls get a viewing and many pundits put out their annual predictions for the coming year. Rather than thinking up my own, I figured I’d regurgitate what many others are expecting to happen.
Below is my review of the first edition of this book. I have included it in its entirety and because it is rather short.
This book does a great job of putting architecture into a view that .NET developers and architects can relate to.
The book covers design principles and patterns, and then relates them to each layer of a traditional layered system. It includes business, services, data access, and presentation layers. The authors include several different patterns for each layer and discuss the pros and cons of each.
