There are 182 billion emails sent every day, generating a lot of data about
how recipients and ISPs respond. Many marketers take a more-is-better
approach to stats, preferring to have the ability to slice and dice their
email lists based numerous arbitrary stats. However, fundamentally what
really matters is whether or not sending an email to a particular recipient
will generate value.
Data Scientists can design high-level insights such as engagement prediction
models and content clusters that allow marketers to cut through the noise and
design their campaigns around strong, predictive signals, rather than
arbitrary statistics.
SendGrid sends up to half a billion emails a day for customers such as

How Docker Quickly Advanced Development of an 'Internet of Things'
Application ▸ Here
Docker offers a new, lightweight approach to application portability.
Applications are shipped using a common container format and managed with a
high-level API. Their processes run within isolated namespaces that abstract
the operating environment independently of the distribution, versions,
network setup, and other details of this environment.
This "containerization" has often been nicknamed "the new virtualization." ... (more)
The definition of IoT is not new, in fact it's been around for over a decade.
What has changed is the public's awareness that the technology we use on a
daily basis has caught up on the vision of an always on, always connected
world. If you look into the details of what comprises the IoT, you'll see
that it includes everything from cloud computing, Big Data analytics,
"Things," Web communication, applications, network, storage, etc. It is
essentially including everything connected online from hardware to software,
or as we like to say, it's an Internet of many different things. ... (more)

@CloudExpo Stories By Elizabeth White There's no doubt that the Internet of Things is driving the next wave of innovation. Google has spent billions over the past few months vacuuming up companies that specialize in smart appliances and machine learning. Already, Philips light bulbs, Audi automobiles, and Samsung washers and dryers can communicate with and be controlled from mobile devices. To take advantage of the opportunities the Internet of Things brings to your business, you'll want to start preparing now. This article offers a round-up of industry experts' opinions on the New Year.
Now that cloud services have become part of IT’s “new normal,” commonly referred to as “hybrid,” it seems obvious that the approaches and tools we use to manage IT would also evolve and mature, though the pace of evolution varies amongs companies, of course. Jan. 9, 2015 07:00 AM EST Reads: 1,884 | By Liz McMillan The recent trends like cloud computing, social, mobile and Internet of Things are forcing enterprises to modernize in order to compete in the competitive globalized markets.
However, enterprises are approaching newer technologies with a more silo-ed way, gaining only sub optimal benefits.
The Modern Enterprise model is presented as a newer way to think of enterprise IT, which takes a more holistic approach to embracing modern technologies. Jan. 9, 2015 03:00 AM EST Reads: 2,190 | By Liz McMillan Due of the rise of Hadoop, many enterprises are now deploying their first small clusters of 10 to 20 servers. At this small scale, the complexity of operating the cluster looks and feels like general data center servers. It is not until the clusters scale, as they inevitably do, when the pain caused by the exponential complexity becomes apparent. We've seen this problem occur time and time again.

Jan. 8, 2015 10:15 PM EST Reads: 2,307 | By Pat Romanski Some developers believe that monitoring is a function of the operations team. Some operations teams firmly believe that monitoring the systems they maintain is sufficient to run the business successfully. Most of them are wrong.
