Integration Platform As A Servie(iPaaS): Integration platform as a Service (iPaaS) delivers a cloud service for application, data, process, and service-oriented architecture (SOA) integration scenarios. It is a multi-tenant platform that supports cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-on-premises, on-premises-to-on-premises and B2B integration. It supports real-time integration and scales to meet the high-volume demands of mobile, extract, transform and load (ETL) and electronic data interchange (EDI) environments. As enterprises moved towards SaaS based solutions for their core needs, and as evident that no single SaaS solution can support the end to end business processes, iPaaS is becoming more and more important from integration point of view.
Mobile Backend As A Service(mBaaS): Mobile Backend as a service, also known as " backend as a service", is a model for providing mobile app developers with a way to link their applications to backend cloud storage and APIs exposed by back end applications. As the Enterprise Mobility needs, grows the concept of mBaaS gained importance and growing equally if not much faster like iPaaS.
Convergence: While these concepts started and gained traction at slightly different periods, with the push for ‘Mobile First' enterprises the demarcation between iPaaS and mBaaS have thinned down or almost non existent. The following are some of the features of both iPaaS and mBaaS.
- Authentication Services across Multiple ERP and cloud based SaaS solutions
- Value added services like Single Sign On and Two Factor Authentication
- Ability to CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) system of records from ERP applications like NetSuite, SAP, SalesForce
- Cloud enabled Scalability and Availability
- Support for Hybrid Environment
- Support for multiple protocols and connectors to backend systems
- Easy, Adaptable and Pluggable architecture to extend to new applications
- Monitoring & Management Capabilities
- Based on SOA foundation
- ...... and more.
With closed convergence between them, it would make lot of sense of Cloud Platform providers like Microsoft Azure to provide the services of both iPaaS and mBaaS under the single offering of mBaaS.
DELL Boomi (iPaaS) And Azure Mobile Services (mBaaS): Dell Boomi has been the leader in the iPaaS for a while. It is also been named as Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Integration Platform As A Service. With Boomi AtomSphere® you can integrate any combination of cloud, SaaS and on-premises applications. Below is a partial list of applications where the Boomi team has integration built in.
- Oracle E-Business Suite
- SAP Business Suite & NetWeaver
- PeopleSoft
- Workday
- Salesforce.....
and a complete list can be viewed from their site.
http://www.boomi.com/products/evaluate/supported_applications
Most of these integrations not only aimed at providing the basic connectivity but also at deeper integration at business entities and their semantics. For example with an integration with Oracle EBS we can perform use cases like:
- Order to Won Opportunity
- Won opportunities (CRM) to Invoice / Order to Cash
- Customer account information from e-commerce/billing to Oracle EBS
- Synchronize product catalog from CRM to Oracle EBS
- Update Oracle EBS with employee data from Payroll
- Import invoice/ payment info from financials to provide visibility to sales
- Orders/invoices and shipment notifications to EDI
It would be highly useful for enterprises if a tighter integration is achieved between Azure Mobile Services which is a mBaaS offering from Microsoft and DELL Boomi which is a iPaaS offering from DELL. As the complete Mobile First scenarios of various enterprise use cases can be achieved with that combination.
Azure already provides a Biztalk Services but considering the deeper ERP Integration options from DELL Boomi Biztalk Services can compliment it with options like, On Premise Integration , database integration and other integration scenarios outside of what is provided by DELL Boomi.
Summary: Cloud is all about integration and interoperability is also a key. Major players like DELL and Microsoft are already close partners in several other initiatives and it would make lot of sense if a iPaaS like DELL Boomi gets fully integrated with a mBaaS like Azure Mobile Services and being called under the banner of mBaaS, that will indeed strengthen Microsoft's ‘Mobile First And Cloud First ‘ strategy.

Data centers have matured immensely over the past decade with today’s data centers being greener than ever. Pike Research mentions that the green data center market was worth $17.1 billion in 2012. The green data center economy is expected to grow rapidly throughout this decade. Pike Research estimates that the total market value for green data centers will increase to $45 billion by 2016.
DevOps Summit at Cloud Expo 2014 Silicon Valley was a terrific event for us. The Qubell booth was crowded on all three days. We ran demos every 30 minutes with folks lining up to get a seat and usually standing around. It was great to meet and talk to over 500 people! My keynote was well received and so was Stan's joint presentation with RingCentral on Devops for BigData. I also participated in two Power Panels – ‘Women in Technology’ and ‘Why DevOps Is Even More Important than You Think,’ both featuring brilliant colleagues and moderators and it was a blast to be a part of.
Today’s web-based applications are highly demanding, so the databases that hold their vast stores of information are not only expected to be very flexible in nature (supporting various data formats), but also to manage extreme performance and scaling. In this article I compare NoSQL to the traditional RDBMS model, how they differ, and the advantages NoSQL has in managing today's web-based apps.
Data security has long been thought the exclusive domain of large enterprises. Why would cyber-criminals bother with small and midsized companies when the big prizes are to be found hacking into large organizations?
Unfortunately an increasing number of smaller companies find themselves at risk of infiltration, antivirus corruption, and data theft. Hackers are catching on that smaller offices are a softer target. Security in these organizations is generally looser as they often lack the financial resources for a comprehensive security system.
If watching your in-laws awkwardly bicker on Thanksgiving weekend wasn't enough for you, this Docker vs. Rocket thing feels like a full-blown go in the Octagon.
For context, CoreOS announced on Monday that they don't agree with the direction Docker is headed, and are creating their own container runtime called Rocket. They cite less-than-stellar security, speed, and overcomplexity as reasons to compete with Docker, and decided to take the matter into their own hands. The kickoff blog post, which uses a good bit of stern language (in the context of a product introduction anyway), says Docker...

What’s Big Data without Big Compute? Basically just a large collection of unstructured information with little purpose and value. It’s not enough for data just to exist, we must derive value from it through computation – something commonly referred to as analytics.
With traditional data, we simply query it to derive results; all we need is currently stored within the data set itself. For instance, for a customer database with dates of birth, we may just fetch the list of customers who were born after a certain date. This is a simple query, not a computation, and therefore cannot be conside...

In fact, the term ‘beacon’ has grown into such an odd mishmash of apprehension and potential, it creates as much confusion as it inspires.
