North Bridge Venture Partners and the 38 leading cloud organizations today announced the launch of its 2nd annual Future of Cloud Computing Survey. The survey will capture current perceptions, sentiments and future expectations of cloud computing from industry experts, users and vendors of cloud software, support and services. The goal of the survey is to measure how and to what extent the cloud is being used, the key drivers of growth and change in the cloud, and the impact the cloud is having on IT and business operations. The survey will explore areas such as current use, drivers, barriers, and future plans regarding cloud computing. The survey will also reveal profile information on the types of cloud services currently being used.
Now open to the general public, the survey has a target close date of June 1. North Bridge will be revealing the results at its prestigious Cloud Leadership Dinner on June 19, and then make them available online at www.northbridge.com/software.
“Cloud computing has become an integral component to virtually every organization’s IT strategy, which is why it is critical to understand how this trend is evolving over time,” said Michael Skok, General Partner, North Bridge Venture Partners. “Last year’s survey created a benchmark on the state of the cloud computing industry. With the 2012 survey, we can now measure movement that is being made, as well as the future direction of cloud computing. With nearly 40 leading cloud computing organizations on board to provide valuable insight, we expect to obtain an unbiased perspective from users and vendors that will enable us to understand what it will take to move the meter on cloud adoption.”
The Future of Cloud Computing Survey was launched in 2011 to set benchmarks from which to study and track user and buying trends, similar to the North Bridge Future of Open Source Survey, now in its 6th year. The Future of Cloud Computing Survey has been endorsed, and will be distributed by 38 other collaborators who have also joined the forum on the Future of Cloud.
