The “Industrial Processing” online trade show and event on January 11, 2012 hosted by GlobalSpec drew more than 1,400 participants, with 74 percent of attendees reporting they are decision makers within their organizations. The free virtual conference is now available on demand to give engineers easy access to educational presentations and industry-leading supplier resources from the live-day event.
GlobalSpec’s “Industrial Processing” event provided educational forums, manufacturer and supplier content, and expertise on the latest developments across key industrial processing technology areas including: fluid/gas handling equipment; thermal processing; solids handling; plus filtration, separation, and recycling.
“The Industrial Processing show was a great event to kick off what will be another exciting year for online trade shows and events at GlobalSpec,” said Donna Lewis, vice president of e-publishing and e-events for GlobalSpec. “Once again attendance was outstanding and 74 percent of attendees confirmed they are decision makers at their companies. And this is just the beginning – as we are looking forward to delivering valuable content and quality educational sessions to the engineering and manufacturing communities at many events throughout the year.”
Speakers and topics at the event included:

What Smart Instruments Can Do For You – A smart instrument is
generally defined as a device that includes one or more digital
network communication options. Because provision of digital
communications requires a microprocessor, a wide range of other
capabilities are also possible. Once smart instruments are understood
and deployed, the payoff is less complexity, better performance, and
reduced costs.
Presented by Craig McIntyre, Chemical Industry Manager, Endress+Hauser, Inc. -
Trends in Ultrasonic Flow Measurement – Ultrasonic flow
measurement technology provides a number of benefits to process
engineers. This non-invasive method of measurement keeps your process
running while providing valuable insight into your plant's operation.
Presented by Bill Roeber, Vice President of Engineering, Racine Federated, Inc. -
Securing and Governing Cloud Services – Both public and private
cloud providers will be faced with making new features and services
available to their customers through exposing functional, management,
and provisioning APIs to customers and partners securely. The
presentation explored architectural and design requirements and
contrasted these with where the cloud market is today.
Presented by Kenneth Owens, Vice President Security and Virtualization Technologies, Savvis, Inc. -
Forget About Energy Consumption; Control Its Cost Instead – For
decades industrial companies were able to maximize the profitability
of their operations by controlling the consumption of energy and
materials while maximizing their throughput. In today's real time
business environment this is not good enough. A new approach to
driving profitability is required and available.
Presented by Peter Martin, Vice President, Business Value Generation, Invensys
