With its eye on Amazon Web Services and Amazon's attractions for business, Google has set up App Engine Premier Accounts, an enterprise service for its restrictions-beset PaaS that abandons per-user, per-app pricing.

For $500 a month, it's promising premier support, a 99.95% uptime SLA and the ability to create an unlimited number of apps.

Interested parties, however, are advised to read its terms of service and definitions of downtime before rushing in. Google is demanding that users try hard to fix any problems before bothering Google in writing and don't expect any help on weekends or late at night.

Google has also pushed Google Storage for Developers out of Code Labs, renamed it Cloud Storage and lowered the prices on storage and bandwidth across-the-board. It says the all-purpose storage widgetry will read and write files via the App Engine Files API and the new prices could save volume users storing 100TB of data, reading 20TB and writing 10TB a month 40%.

Storage costs start at 13 cents for up to 1TB and bandwidth starts at 12 cents for up to 1TB.

There's also an updated version of Google's Prediction API that gives developers access to machine learning in the cloud to build smarter apps, and File API support for reading and writing data.

In deference to business accounts, Google is providing billing by invoice rather than by credit card.

Google says 200,000 developers have created apps on its cloud services, not many when you think about it.
