Google Ramps Up Its Mobile Reach: Launches "Mobile Web Search"
Visit Google on Your Mobile and Search the Mobile Web

To add to last month's new Google Local service enabling people to connect to information from their mobile phones or wireless device, Google has now launched what it's calling "search in the palm of your hand."

Google Mobile, says the search giant, "makes it easy to access online information — over 8 billion pages and a billion images — on your cell phone or mobile device." You can also search more than a billion images and get the one you need on your phone with Google Image Search.

The technology works only with sites that use XHTML, rather than traditional HTML, to create slimmed-down mobile versions of their site specially adapted for the mobile screen.

Using Google to search on your cell phone or mobile device gives you access to over 8 billion Web pages and 1.1 billion images, says Google. You enter a query into the Google search box on your cell phone (pictured), just as you would enter a query into Google.com on your computer. Your query will go to Google and you'll get back the same set of search results.

You can access www.google.com from any cell phone or mobile device that supports a Web browser and Google Mobile Search is available in over 90 languages.

A full list of available Interface Languages can be found at http://www.google.com/preferences.
