Lenovo, now the world's third-largest PC vendor, has hired ousted Acer CEO
Gianfranco Lanci as a consultant.
He will be working out of Italy, which raises suspicions that some of the
Europeans Lanci brought into Acer could follow him to Lenovo which is looking
to Europe to grow its PC share.
DigiTimes thinks some of Acer's retail partnership could be impacted too.
Lenovo's aiming to pass Dell this year as the world's second-largest PC
flogger. China is now the biggest PC market, having passed the US last
quarter.
Lanci is supposed to advise Lenovo on expanding its consumer business and on
its integration with German PC maker Medion, which it bought a couple of
months ago.

The Düsseldorf court that enjoined Samsung Germany from selling its
Android-based Galaxy Tab 10.1 anywhere in Germany - or anywhere in the
European Union for that matter - stuck by its guns Friday when it refused to
lift the month-old temporary injunction.
The court figures the Galaxy looks too much like the iPad's protected design.
It had already given Apple a second preliminary injunction after Samsung
turned up at an annual consumer electronics show in Berlin a few days before
