Project Insight, online project management software provider, announces that its co-founder and CTO, Steve West, recently broke the record for being the oldest American male to qualify for the Olympic Swimming Trials at age 39. At the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions in Mission Viejo, California on June 25, West qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the men's 200 meter breaststroke with a fifth-seeded preliminary time of 2:20.65, just missing the men's 35-39 200 meter breaststroke FINA Masters world record of 2:20.29. The U.S. Olympic Trials time standard is 2:20.79. According to an interview with Swimming World, West's record was previously held by Wally Dicks, who was 37 when he qualified for and swam at Trials in 2000 in the 100 breast. West, an all-American at the University of Michigan, has swum at Trials before, previously competing in 1992, ... (more)
