Ex-AMD CEO Tries Making a Comeback

Although he was never charged, Ruiz was implicated as a tipster in the Galleon Group insider trading case

Former AMD CEO Hector Ruiz is looking to come in out of the cold by starting a consulting business in San Francisco oddly enough called Bull Ventures LLC.

Although he was never charged, Ruiz was implicated as a tipster in the Galleon Group insider trading case that's been sending people to jail including ex-IBM CEO hopeful Robert Moffat.

Moffat did six months for telling corporate secrets out of school. Ruiz merely resigned as chairman of Globalfoundries, the chip fab created out of AMD's spun-out factories by Abu Dhabi.

Ruiz was the architect of the "save AMD" plan although under his administration the company also dangerously overspent buying ATI, requiring the bailout. Ruiz' partner in Bull Ventures is another ex-AMD exec Bharath Rangarajan.

According to their web site, they're peddling their strategy smarts to companies that want "to grow from good to great."
