Just over a month ago I spoke to a few colleagues on the subject of
Enterprise Mobility and I went into my Evangelistic mode proclaiming that...
"Mobility in business is now the norm and that any company that is not
looking at mobilizing their workforce and creating Mobile Information
Workers, will be left in the starting blocks, where as others sprint away
allowing proactive business processes and access to core information anytime
anywhere".
Then out of the blue one colleague asked me what my predictions would be in
the area of Mobility for the next three years. I immediately started to
chuckle and said that it would be hard enough to predict the next 12-18
months, but after I stopped laughing I started to brainstorm my thoughts and
predictions for the next 12-18 months ahead.

Among PowerBuilder 12.5 .NET's new features comes the ability to use WCF to
call RESTful web services. This article, the first in a two-part series,
provides a PowerBuilder 12.5 .NET developer with the foundational knowledge
and skills to rapidly get up and running building PowerBuilder RESTful Web

If you've been following my recent editorials, you'll know I have some
concerns with HTML5 as the silver bullet for all web / mobile development. As
a result, I've been a proponent of rich GUI applications for both web and
mobile. To that end, I've been supportive of adding Silverlight as a
deployment target for PowerBuilder applications for web support. I also had
been hopeful that Silverlight adoption on mobile devices would enable
PowerBuilder to deploy to those devices as well.

Even during Cloud Expo, we reach more people by Twitter than the announcements we make through loudspeakers in the convention centers.
I would love to contact the people who are conducting this survey and ask them if any company answered their first question as "don't really consider it."

It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc.
Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon.
