Another Big Management Shakeup Hits HP

As part of the announcement HP said it will increase support for its efforts in China and India

HP shuffled its executive suite again late Monday, claiming that the changes will better align its corporate structure with the cloud strategy CEO Léo Apotheker vaguely sketched out in March.

Ann Livermore, who runs HP's Enterprise Business, where it gets the bulk of its revenues, has been kicked upstairs to the boardroom or will be as soon as the company finds a replacement for her.

While HP looks, two of Livermore's reports - EMC émigré Dave Donatelli, EVP, enterprise servers, storage, networking and technology services, and Microsoft émigré Bill Veghte, EVP, software - will report directly to Apotheker along with EVP Jan Zadak, EVP of global sales, who until recently ran EMEA for HP.

The fact that Donatelli and Veghte are now reporting to Apotheker is supposed to give their units "greater visibility and support throughout the entire HP organization."

Apotheker is also looking for a new guy to run services, which was supposedly neglected by the previous administration, and he will report to Apotheker too once they find him.

Out immediately are HP's chief administration officer Pete Bocian, whose job has been eliminated, and CIO Randy Mott, whose job will be expanded once HP finds a replacement. Bocian used to work for Apotheker's predecessor Mark Hurd when Hurd ran NCR and followed him to HP.

As part of the announcement HP said it will increase support for its efforts in China and India. PC chief Todd Bradley is supposed to lead "cross-business initiatives" focused on expanding HP's market share in China, and printer chief Vyomesh Joshi is supposed to do the same in India.

Apparently Apotheker is planning more structural tweaking because he's quoted in the press release as saying, "In our ongoing effort to accelerate our progress in executing our strategy, we will continue to make the necessary changes that streamline our operations, drive focus and agility, and position us for success."

Livermore will be the sixth new director added to the board this year.
