The Only Enterprise IT Event in 2011
Covering the Entire Scope of the
Cloud Computing Spectrum |
| |
Cloud computing is steadily becoming an integral
part of the enterprise computing environment. |
|

Cloud Expo was announced on February 24, 2007, the day the term "cloud computing" was coined. That same year, the first Cloud Expo took place in New York City with 450 delegates. This coming November 7-10, 2011, Cloud Expo is returning to Santa Clara with more than 5,000 delegates and over 100 sponsors and exhibitors.
"Cloud" has become synonymous with "computing" and "software" in two short years. Cloud Expo is the new PC Expo, Comdex, and InternetWorld of our decade. By 2012, more than 50,000 delegates per year will participate in Cloud Expo worldwide.
The cloud is certainly a compelling alternative to running all applications within a traditional corporate data center. But moving from theory into practice is where things get complicated, and this is where attending a top industry event like Cloud Expo comes in.
No one can take full advantage of cloud computing without first becoming familiar with the latest issues and trends, which is why the organizing principle of the 9th International Cloud Expo November 7-10, 2011, is to ensure - through an intensive four-day schedule of keynotes, general and breakout sessions, and our bustling Expo Floor - that attending delegates leave with abundant resources, ideas and examples they can apply immediately to leveraging the Cloud, helping them to maximize performance, minimize cost and improve the scalability of their Enterprise IT endeavors.
Delegates will leave 9th Cloud Expo with dramatically increased understanding of the entire scope of the cloud computing spectrum, from storage to security.
| Whether you're an enterprise or small to medium business, you'll soon be benefiting from the Cloud. Join your peers in Silicon Valley, November 7-10, and maximize those benefits already in 2011. See you in Santa Clara! |

Articles & Feature Stories By Dan Trevino; Lilac Schoenbeck Feeling nervous about the cloud? Many CIOs understandably hesitate to send services requiring regulatory compliance to the public cloud. Though not outsourcing such services may seem like a good idea, this approach limits your flexibility in offering the best combination of services to meet business demands. As public cloud services continue to grow in both diversity and quality, IT and the business can’t afford to bypass opportunities offered there and hope to remain competitive. The compliance issue must be addressed, but how? Is it possible to ensure compliance when sending services to the cloud?
Fortunately, the answer is “yes.” By using a strategy based on Business Service Management (BSM), a comprehensive approach and unified platform for running IT, you can extend the BSM processes and solutions that you use to manage your internal infrastructure to the public cloud environment.... Jul. 8, 2011 10:00 AM EDT Reads: 717 | By Roger Strukhoff Philippines President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has abolished the country's Commission on Information & Communications Technology (CICT), through an executive order. The move has caused widespread consternation among several IT-centric organizations and individuals.
The move also leaves the country as the lone major Southeast Asian country without a formal government entity devoted to IT (or ICT as it's commonly known as outside the US).
The CICT was formed in 2004 by Aquino's successor at an organizational level a notch below that of a federal Department, even though its Secretary served in the President's cabinet. Its proponents have been lobbying for several years to elevate it to Departmental status. Instead, Aquino's order has folded it into the country's Department of Science & Technology (DOST).
A letter was published today by several organizations urging Aquino to rec... Already, most organizations are using virtual servers and the numbers are growing, and in a few short years many will have hoisted their IT infrastructures into some type of cloud – private, public or a hybrid of the two. Virtualization and cloud computing, which go hand-in-hand, hold a lot of promise. Cost savings. Flexibility. Massive scalability. Faster time-to-market for applications and services. Tighter alignment with business goals. Computing on demand, whenever, wherever and however you need it. But IT’s history reminds us that no technology can deliver bottom-line benefits or, more important, top-line gains, if the technology isn’t harnessed, governed and managed. Specific objectives include “enabling workers to complete the proper work tasks at the appropriate times, measuring operational costs, and helping veteran farmers pass down expert knowledge to younger generations,” the company says.
The project employs sensors, smartphones, and PCs within a cloud infrastructure. Field data is stored at Fujitsu datacenters, to be viewed and analyzed. A smartphone app also enables field workers to submit observations and comments about unusual conditions.

Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.

The idea was to free horses from transport duty, have less… Mess in the streets that horses generate, and move stuff. Over time, “stuff” became differentiated into “people”, “goods”, and “major shipping”. Thoug... Jul. 6, 2011 10:15 AM EDT Reads: 536 | By Udayan Banerjee Some time back I had complained that the price of cloud service offerings are not coming down fast enough compared to the drop in hardware price reduction. But then we see the following release from Amazon – AWS.
