The shoe that's been dangling at the end of Washington's toe for ever so long
has finally dropped, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Federal Trade Commission is reportedly ready to serve Google with civil
subpoenas, kicking off what the paper says will be a "wide-ranging, formal
antitrust investigation into whether the search giant has abused its
dominance on the web."
Google should get served with demands for information in days. Competitors
and customers will get theirs later.
The Journal says the investigation will focus on "fundamental issues relating
to Google's core search advertising business," which of course is responsible
for the bulk of its revenue. The FTC wants to know if Google "unfairly
channels users to its own growing network of services at the expense of
rivals."
Google is being investigated for the same thing in Europe. The European

I read this week about Microsoft’s newly announced Smartphone operating
system code named Mango. They reported that it would have over 500 new
features. This is impressive since Windows Phone 7 has just been out for
seven months. Since I focus on “enterprise” mobility, let’s dig into
some of the features that may be relevant.
The strategy and tactics that Microsoft is developing in this next version

It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc.
Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years.
Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing.
Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. The worldwide CIO survey was conducted by Gartner EXP from September to December 2010 and represents CIO budget plans reported at that time. According to the results, CIOs expect to adopt new cloud services much faster than originally expected. Currently, 3% of CIOs have the majority of IT running in the cloud or on SaaS technologies, but over the next four years CIOs expect this number to increase to 43%.
